“Parkour is an inclusive and engaging movement discipline that challenges students at their individual level, building confidence, agility, and problem-solving skills. “

– Amy Ryan • Baltimore County Public Schools • Physical Education AYA Certified 2025

“Parkour is an inclusive and engaging movement discipline that challenges students at their individual level, building confidence, agility, and problem-solving skills. “”

– Miriam Kenyon • Director of Health and Physical Education • Washington DC Public Schools

“This has enabled many of my students in adapted physical education to learn how to move their bodies safely, enjoy success and has increased their confidence. Parkour is for Every Body.”

– Heather Holaday • Adapted PE • DCPS

“This program made parkour accessible and exciting for my students — even the ones who normally hesitate in PE. The vaulting progressions and landing drills helped them feel safe, capable, and proud. They ask for the parkour unit every year!”

– Kyle McManus, PE Teacher

Frequently asked …

A few practical answers before you jump in.

Is Parkour safe for PE classes?

Yes. Our school program is built around control-first, low-risk progressions designed for school environments. Students learn awareness, spacing, obstacle testing, and landing quality before speed, height, or complexity. Safety is not treated as a separate add-on — it is built into how the lessons are taught from the start.

How does parkour align with PE standards?

American Parkour school units are designed to align with many SHAPE 2024 and state PE standards. The curriculum includes lesson plans, differentiation, rubrics, and setup guidance, making it easier for teachers and administrators to connect instruction to standards and track student progress.

Do teachers need prior parkour experience to teach it?

No. Our system is designed for PE teachers, not just parkour specialists. Teachers receive clear lesson structure, coaching language, progressions, and professional development so they can lead safely and confidently without needing a parkour background.

Built for immediate classroom use: Our lesson plans provide enough structure for any teacher to lead a successful class with confidence, while allowing experienced educators to adjust pacing and delivery within a clear, safety-first framework.

What equipment and space do we need?

Our programs include all of the equipment needed for safe delivery. The lesson plans are built around the provided APK equipment, giving teachers a clear, reliable setup for teaching the curriculum as intended.

Jump Into Parkour: Designed for maximum flexibility, this program can be run in a small room using only floor space. The kit stores in just 4 feet of shelf space and is portable enough for Adapted PE teachers.

Explore Parkour: Best suited for a gym or multi-purpose room, this program makes fuller use of space. One exposed wall is ideal, but not required. The full kit stores in under 18 square feet of floor space.

  • Accessibility (ARIA) Standards
Will this work for different grade levels and Adapted PE?

Yes. Our curriculum is designed for students from Pre-K through Grade 12 and supports a wide range of ability levels through scalable challenge, multiple entry points, and clear support and challenge options.

Parkour’s focus on adapting to the environment also makes it especially useful in Adapted PE settings where success may look different from student to student.

What does implementation support look like?

Schools can adopt parkour as a complete system: curriculum, professional development, equipment, resources, and ongoing support. We provide tools for teachers and administrators including standards maps, safety guidance, implementation checklists, assessment look-fors, and training pathways that help schools launch with clarity and confidence.
