As a martial artist, I really hate UFC.  It's just like they took a bunch of street fighters and put them in a pen.  There's no form wahtsoever.  All they do is physical training.  They don't learn how to fight and they don't train in fighting.  It's just not fun to watch.

I think only one part of it described Parkour and that was the line, "letting nothing get in your way."  Even so, I think that description is pretty weak.

If you don't do anything illegal, you won't get arrested.

If a cop asks you to move on, move on. The world is too big of a place to worry about that sort of thing.

Like what people said before: be courteous.

I disagree.  Police officials are theoretically supposed to be PROTECTING the public.  Without probable cause, they cannot prosecute, arrest, or in any way HARASS a person who they only -think- is going to break the law.  Furthermore, you cannot take any premature action.  You cannot arrest a person BEFORE they have committed the crime.  That's like going into Iraq to protect ourselves when they didn't attack us first.  Philosophically and ethically, it isn't a valid means of defense nor is it a valid means of policing.

What I see this as is injustice through and through.  And police have bigger issues to deal with than the -possibility- of trespassing.  Okay, someone complained in fear.  That's perfectly acceptable.  And the cop is perfectly okay to sit there and watch to ensure they're not going to do anything.  But to ask them to leave PUBLIC property when they weren't doing anything wrong?

To hell with courtesy when we're dealing with a blatant disregard for the purposes of policing and law enforcement.  I think any ethics major would agree with me.

EDIT:  That does NOT mean I'm condoning yapping on and arguing pointlessly.  You HAVE to make clear, rational arguments.

Man...  People who've never dealt with cops before... -_-...  If you feel he did somethign that was entirely out of line, you get his badge number and report him.  Explain your case as courteously as possible.

LOL...  Toejam...

Anywhere, there was a huge jam in Toronto?  Too bad I wasn't into PK until a few weeks ago.  I alternate between Toronto and washington, D.C. biannually.

The worst that could happen is that APK would be prosecuted for distributing copyrighted material to British or French people.  But considering APK is a website that is explicitly American in its name, then the owners can say that the intended audience is American and theya re not liable if British or French consumers come to their site and view stuff that is copyrighted there, but not in the US.

Actually, there's no such thing as international copyright.  With stuff like the Yamakasi documentary and Jump London/Jump Britain, it is perfectly okay for Americans to infringe on copyrights that exist in Britain or France.  Well, it's not MORALLY okay, but I mean, you can't get persecuted for it because the law doesn't extend internationally.  With music, stuff in Britain PROBABLY has a North American distributor and that's where you run into trouble.  But seeing as no Yamakasi stuff nor Jump London/Britain were released in the US, it is not illegal for us to view the entire movies without paying for them.  We are not violating any copyrights which actually exist in the US.  Once these things get released in the US under an American distributor who applies for a copyright of the material, then it'd be illegal.

Tinnmann, you're a damn good writer. Too damn good for any form of punctuation!

Going into Law Enforcement, there are loads of forks in the road, but right now I'm hoping to eventually be involved with the ATF or SS.

Fuuuck.  There goes using Parkour to become the world's best criminal mastermind.

Just wondering on what you guys do for a living.  Or what you plan on doing, since most of us here are teenagers.

I'm a struggling writer and in school to be a teacher (day job).  I have a few stories submitted to a number of literary magazines, so maybe in a few months, I can change that "struggling writer" to "professional writer."

I dunno...  I'd prefer metal or progressive rock, but you don't tend to see that a lot.  Mainly cause no one actually listens to prog anymore.

Sounds like it was a lot of fun.
