Lexington/Columbia area here!  Looking to get back into it, so hit me up if you're in the area.  Hopefully I can make it to a meet if we get one together.

Oh yeah, I'm probably about the oldest one around here.  37.  LOL.

Hi guys.  Been out of the game for a while but I am coming back.  Reasons vary but mainly for my sense of well being, my weight (gained 30 freakin' pounds) and my level of fitness.  Plus, I miss it. :D

Anyway, I'm in Columbia, SC and would love to catch up with any of you that happens to be nearby.  Hopefully I can start heading back to ATL and NC to jam with some of the guys I used to run with.

Some of you may remember me and others won't, but oh well.  :D

I've been out of the loop for quite some time and have had a number of changes in my life; however, I'm looking to turn some things around.  Mainly, my weight (gained 30#) and my level of fitness.

I'm located in the Columbia area and would love to catch up with anyone else that is a runner.  I intend to start slow to get myself back to where I need to be and go from there.

Who is going to the Beast Coast?  I planned to go, but had to probably cancel since I'd be too wiped out to go to work Friday and then make the trip up there alone from Columbia.
If any of you are going and aren't leaving NC until around 4 or 5 pm, I'd love to catch up with you and either follow on my motorcycle or ride along and split gas costs.

Those of you that don't know me can ask Cliff who I am as I used to jam with him from time to time.

Hope to hear from somebody!

VERY good chance I'm not coming, though I planned to.  I have to work this Friday, which means that I'll be up at 4am that day and working until around 3pm.  Then I'd have to jump on the motorcycle and drive 7+ hours up there IF I'm lucky.  If I had a ride along, I could take the truck and have someone to keep me awake during the drive.

Cliff, did you change your cell number?  I tried sending you a text the other night concerning the DC jam.

Congrats on getting married!  I'm assuming that she doesn't run since you couldn't parlay your honeymoon into a PK honeymoon?  LOL.

Hope to catch up with you NC boys sometime soon!

Mark, unless someone steps up to offer me floor space, I'll probably be sleeping at the gym.  Feel free to card me if you like...it'll make me feel better.  LOL.

Age 30+ / Re: Social pressure
« on: May 09, 2007, 05:41:30 PM »
I'm 35 and I've been doing this for a couple of years off and on now.  Luckily for me, my wife doesn't mind in the slightest that I go out and run/jump/whatever.  She accepts the fact that most of the people I hang around tend to be late teens/early 20s due to the fact that i'm into cars and Parkour.

The only time I hear anything but support is when I push mysedlf a bit too much and end up being sore for a few days.  Then, she simply ignores my pleas for a back rub.  LOL.  The couple of times I've actually gotten hurt (my knee and my ankle), she's been pretty supportive.

I think that a lot of it has to do with what kind of person you are.  I'm one who has always bucked the 'normal' activities (i.e. baseball, football, etc) in favor of the 'outer-boundary'  ones (aggressive inline, skateboarding, wakeboarding, etc).  Because of that, it's not much of a leap for my peers to accept.

If, however, you're mostly a 'quiet type' and you suddenly want to start leaping to and fro...  you can see where I'm going with this.

Anyway, do what makes you feel alive.  I, quite honestly, act and feel like I'm 10 years younger and I believe that it is mostly due to the way I view myself and the world around me.

 my $.02

um...Hi.  Does anyone here remember me?  ;)

I'm going to do my damnedest to get up there again this year!  I won't have Frank with me, so I may end up just riding my motorcycle on my own.  I'll need a place to stay, so if anyone could be so kind?  I'll most likely come up Friday after work, which means I won't make it to the area until early am.

I'm finally back into all of this after my last ankle injury, and it's good to be back!

Andrew,

yeah, I still go out weekly...usually Mondays and Wednesdays since my wife has school on those nights.  I'm up for running with you again!

Cliff, I get Finlay but you get a kick-ass campus. :)  Definitely call me when you're in towwn again.
Footage?   What footage?  Umm...I don't know what you're talking about...  Hey, look over there!  A baby wolf!  ::runs and hides:

South Carolina / Weekly Parkour at Finlay Park.
« on: June 21, 2006, 06:01:13 AM »
Like the title says, there will be at least one day every week that we will try to meet at Finlay Park here in downtown Columbia.  Right now, that day will be Thursdays.  If anyone has input, please let me know.

I will be showing up between 6:30 and 7 each time due to work.

Finlay has a variety of obstacles including rails, multi-level ledges, playgrounds and more.  There are water fountains at the park as well as a soda/water vending machine.

Demon, should he do yours with or without a bandage?  :P  J/K, man.

Stereo, if it comes down to it, I don't mind tossing a few bucks to you, especially for shipping or whatever.

Unfortunately, no.  I spent most of my vacation time going to the DC jam.  I'll try to talk to M2.  Maybe he could pick it up from you and send it along with the shirt or DVD I'm going to buy soon.  :)

Either of these would be great...

Awesome work, by the way!

Would there be any way for us to get an original from you  or are you keeping all originals for your portfolio?

Or, you could come down to Columbia and watch it at my house. :)  I've got the (somewhat poorly) subtitled DVD here.  Frank and I just watched it yesterday. :D

FAQ / Re: What shoes should I wear for Parkour?
« on: June 07, 2006, 09:15:41 AM »
Chameleon Ventilators +1.  I just picked up a pair in DC before I left for about $70.  I like them about the same as the Chameleon Slam IIs I still have.  In general, I've had great success with Merrell shoes.

I used to have a set of New Balance (not sure which ones) that absolutely sucked for grip.  The soles were WAY too hard.  I'm sure some people would have liked them.
