...in the sense that it was used purposefully. Also, she modestly "shows up" a (semi-)professional athlete.

Enjoy!

MadParkour / MATC Downtown Campus OFF-LIMITS (temporarily?)
« on: July 22, 2010, 12:34:13 PM »
Hi, all.

Recently we have gotten complaints from MATC downtown's security staff, and/or been asked to leave from there. Therefore, please be aware of the following:

1. If you are training there, and being a jacka$$, STOP. Don't let your jackassery ruin it for the rest of us. So far in Madison we've never had a huge issue with anywhere we have trained. I'd like to keep it that way. I can't imagine anyone from WIpk being a jacka$$, so it's probably not because of this, but I needed to say it anyhow just in case. Be aware that one person's normal training style is another person's jackassery, so it's generally best to err on the side of safety, seriousness, and politeness.

1a. If you are visiting from out of town/out of state and are training at any of Madison's spots, and are being a jacka$$, please go away. We don't want you to ruin it for those of us who live here.

2. DO NOT TRAIN AT MATC DOWNTOWN, PERIOD. I am in email communication right now with their head of security and also the Mayor's office to try to get this straightened out so we can train there again. So for now, just take it off your list and find other places to train until you hear back from me in this thread.

:)

Thank you for your understanding!

Madison Parkour and Wisconsin Parkour have merged! Through this process we have also given our website an extreme makeover! Check it out here: Wisconsin Parkour

We have also established a regular summer training schedule for Madison and Waukesha, and have posted the info on our training calendar.

If you will be out training this summer and would like people to join you, whether for a big or small jam, please email me the information at madparkour(at)gmail(dotcom) and I will get it on the calendar.

Feel free to also post the information in the Wisconsin forum here at APK just as you always have.

Also, if there are newsworthy things happening in your area with regard to parkour, please email them to me at the above address, and we will announce them on our site.

Happy training this summer! Hope to see many of you out and about!

Training Calendar / Saturday, 6/5/10, Genesee Town Park, 10am-???
« on: June 01, 2010, 05:48:49 PM »
I'll be heading to Waukesha to train with the squirrels this Parkour Day. I won't be there till after ballet class but Joey and Travis should be out all day training.

PLEASE EMAIL JOEY IF YOU PLAN ON ATTENDING.
Since we will be moving around the park over an extended period of time, Joey wants to be sure not to miss anyone. So please send an email if you plan to be there.

The park is on the WIpk hotspots map. Here is a link:

Hope to see you there!

Joey and I will be there, training with a new guy, Cort. I think Travis is coming too... hope to see more of you out there!

Wisconsin / American Rendezvous
« on: March 28, 2010, 06:37:23 PM »
I'm sure you've seen the thread about the American Rendezvous in Ohio this summer. If not, find details here.

Parkour Horizons was kind enough to secure discounts at area hotels--the information is in the thread.

So far we have 5 people representing Wisconsin Parkour at this event. We'd love to have more--this is truly an amazing opportunity to train with the founders of the discipline. Joey, Chad, and I attended the last one a few years ago and it changed the way all of us approach parkour. It was truly an amazing experience.

Yes, it costs money.

These guys are flying from France and the UK to train you. If you ask me, $90 for the weekend is well worth it for the opportunity to have this training experience.

If you plan to go, please make your reservations and travel arrangements on your own. Feel free to post here if you would like to coordinate travel arrangements with others, split costs, etc.

Please also post here as you make your arrangements, so we can see who all is coming from Wisconsin!

Finally we were able to get our winter gym training schedule nailed down! Poor Chad has had a very, very stressful/busy fall and winter, so it was kind of touch and go there for a while.

Pay per-class, $7.00

Hope to see you there!

This is footage from last year's Midwest Jam, but they finally got it to air. I thought they did a great job of representing parkour! I'm glad they got comments from M2 on the segment, and also I had to giggle that they talked about parkour being a natural/primal human instinct type-thing while showing footage of Travis Noble in a tree. :)

Enjoy:

Thursday, 10/1 at 7:00 pm on "In Wisconsin" on Wisconsin Public TV.

:D

Can somebody please record it for me? Or YouTube it... or something?

Training Calendar / Fall/winter training schedule and open gyms
« on: September 22, 2009, 06:29:06 PM »
Okay, it's set; I have set the Thursday (Badger Open Gym) and Saturday (various places in the city) training times in our Google calendar as recurring dates.

I still need two things from you guys to make this happen. If you're interested, please step forward:

1. Under-18s... I need someone to be in charge of coordinating the Badger all-ages open gym. Alan I'm thinking this would be a job you'd be great at! I am looking for someone who is relatively experienced in parkour, has good judgment, and leadership skills, to kind of be the "leader" for Open Gym nights at Badger for the under-18s. That is on Fridays from 7:30-9:30. You would need to commit to that time slot, and be there at Badger every week. You can certainly train on your own at that time, but you would also be responsible for welcoming new folks to parkour, giving them some basics, and mentoring them during that time. Remember that Badger will have other people there doing gymnastics and kind of their own thing, so it's important that you seek out the parkour folks (wearing a t-shirt that says "Parkour" is a great way to do this) and approach them to help them get started.

2. Anyone else... I need someone to set a location for each Saturday training and make a post here about it. The time slot is already set in our Google calendar; I just need someone to be in charge of picking the place, posting it here, and being there every Saturday. I will be there most Saturdays; but I don't want to always be picking the place, and during the week I don't always have time to post and update the calendar. The calendar directs people here for Saturday training, so I just need someone to (like I said), pick the Saturday training spot, post it here in the forum (date and time, etc. per the normal posting protocol), and then show up at the appointed time/place.

Any takers??? This will really help our organization grow.

Let me know.

:D
