Finally getting into real conditioning...
Haven't really been conditioning at all and considering that it is nearly the end of my first year i figured i should start.

I am going t base my First set of goals on the EMI skill standards.
     link here http://www.eatmoveimprove.com/2009/12/skill-standards-for-building-strong-useful-adaptable-athletes/

I wish to be close to all around level 2 by the end of the winter (pretty big for what i'm at now, but a good goal to strive for)

First set of standards I wish to work towards is:
 -Dips- 10
-Pull ups- 20 KPU, 12 DPU
 -L-sit- 25 sec.
-more to come when i sit and plan it out

Get back to it tomorrow with final first goal set and tested results.

Parkour And Freerunning / Gym vs. Street
« on: December 02, 2009, 05:47:52 PM »
Just wondering which you guys preferred for learning new moves.  Either in a gym or out in the "streets" or wherever you train outside.  I personally prefer the "streets because you don't learn to rely on the pads or expect a soft landing, but for those big tricks it is pretty dangerous.  opinions please

Parkour And Freerunning / Back to it
« on: October 29, 2009, 12:18:54 PM »
I just got back into training after a few months break.  I was out for a few months due to Laziness first, then an injury, and then being busy...  I wasn't actually that far into my training (just about 2 1/2 months).  Now I'm coming back full force, but a lot of my conditioning has gone away.  Now I do still have some of my old skills, and somehow some have gotten much better, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips on getting back to my previous level fast so i can get moving forward soon. Any advice would be great. thanks

Parkour And Freerunning / Parkour in the X-Games...
« on: January 31, 2009, 07:04:55 PM »
I think it woulkd be amazing if they put PK in the x-games!

they could like build a huge course and say get from point a to point b and the one that does it the fastest would be the winner...

of course they could do it any number of ways including using freerunning instead and doing a point based system for the tricks

this would also definately put parkour out there for people to see.  so this could help boost us tremendously

Parkour And Freerunning / Motivation
« on: December 20, 2008, 06:26:16 PM »
I knoiw this sounds kind of cheesey but a huge part of training and PK/FR is motivation.
Motivation helps drives us in what we attempt and do.  Motivation is what makes us want to go on, what makes us ,umm..., strive.. for what we do, whatever that may be, and drives us to ....... create, have fun and learn.

My motivaton is the aspect of bettering myself.  I have always been incompetant or unwilling.  Since I started practicing PK i hve seen that turn around.  I have become a more competant person in living and in moving through my environment and my life.
  - I also enjoy just going out and screwing around with friends, but this is also part of my motivation, I srtive to learn new skill to share  with my friens and t help them learn.

Plz share your motivations and feelings on this topic here as you will.
