Parkour And Freerunning / How to videos on tumbling spotting.
« on: September 10, 2010, 07:23:05 AM »
Feel free to relocate this to Pics/Vids. Kinda wasn't sure where to put this.

Eh, so, I've started training to work at a cheer place, and I am looking for some sort of spotting tutorials for tumbling. Youtube has a few. but they aint the best... Any help appreciated!

Yup. It initially happened when trying to teach myself the front squat 4 or 5 days ago. It tried to stand up with the weight and felt a severe pain in the top of my wrist directly under the carpels. Then I got another intense shot of pain a few days later when I pushed myself up out of bed, but this time it spread all the way way into the bottom few inches of my forearm.

So now I cannot do bench, over head press, push-ups, dips, etc. without pain. Though I can work around it by pushing off of my fist or my fingertips, which leads me to believe that my wrist isn't meant to hold a lot of weight too far back, closer to the fingers.

Any insight to this subject would be greatly appreciated. But the more I think about it, I must just have bad lifting form :/

Thanks <3

Your DOB and age
6.12.92 I am 17.
name (remember this is the internet, name is helpful but not mandatory)
My name is Shae Micheal Perkins
City, State
League City, Texas
# years practicing Parkour / Freerunning
dos y un media
Hours of training per week. (real, not what you'd like to do)
4-12 on average
Other exercise / fitness experience
bouldering, soccer, BMX
Location where injury occurred
In my room
Conditions of location (wet, dark, icy, etc)
Low light, dry carpet, room temperature
What you were doing / trying to do when injury occurred?
I was doing weighted one legged squats with 2 10lbs dumbells
Where any other people involved?
I was alone.
Part of body  - description of injury, rating of severity 1-10.
My left knee began clicking when I stood up past 90* on the 2nd or 3rd squat. There is absolutely no pain when I do so, but the clicking sound grows louder as I add weight or jump harder.
Did you see a doctor for diagnosis?
Negative, but from the research I have done- if there is no pain, it is generally OK.
Did you get X-rays or MRI's?
Negative
Picture of the injury
Negatory
Could you / how could you have avoided the injury?
I feel I could have avoided this injury if I were more educated on proper one legged squat form...
Date / type / severity of your last injury?
About 3 months ago I twisted my right knee landing in a foam pit from a front punch. I rate the severity from 4-6.
Notes on the experience?
I feel like an idiot for not completely understanding one legged squat technique and adding weight to the body weight version exercise. I have done a fair amount of research and most everything is saying that as long as the click is not associated with pain it is generally OK, though I would still like a second opinion. Thanks.
