I'm at a funny transition point. I've been living in Park City, UT for a year, I'm kind of ready to leave and go back to the East. But I've yet to visit the west coast in any depth. So I want to take a motorcycle trip from the frozen Rockies to the warm beaches of California.
Im not stuck to any specifics, I just have a few goals with this trip.
They are:
Visit the tempest academy.
Train in new places with new people.
See cities I've never seen.

So it'll probably be the beginning of November that I come to CA. If anyone would be willing to host me, that would be great.
If anyone has some sweet training spots, or knows of any jams around that time, I'd love to join.
I'm also looking for a place I could leave my motorcycle for a few weeks so I can hitchhike up to Seattle and back. (never hitched before...)

If you would be down to let me use floor or couch space for a night or two, or just show me around your town, let me know!

Utah / Interest in parkour/freerunning classes in SLC or park city
« on: October 25, 2010, 11:29:17 AM »
Hey utah!

I recently relocated to Park City, UT from Frederick, Maryland. (FrederickMDPKFR.webs.com)
I'm looking for a place in Salt Lake or PC to teach parkour and freerunning classes.
so my questions for you are these:
Would you and your friends be interested in learning parkour in a class setting?
Do you know of a location(fitness center, Gymnastics facility, community center) near you that may be interested in hosting these classes?
Im currently putting together proposals for some gyms, and i'd be interested in approaching others.
You can see my most current work Here; "Be Real" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NDrct3tKx4) and our video "Be Wild" took second in the traceur judged Beast Coast Film Festival this past summer (Link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDj2njX6e7Q)

Get back to me!

So Thing Here is:

Come  early October Im moving out to the rocky mountains, Park City Utah to be exact. So i wanna see everyone and train my favorite hometown spots one last time for the year. I'll be back in june.

So saturday October 2nd we'll probably start around 11- 12, so parkour time thats like 1 or 1:30(not really though, be there before noon)
Jam out downtown til early evening.(keeping the time conservative so we have energy for the next day)

I think it might be cool to go camping afterwards.

And then the next day have a woods jam at Raven Rock or in Michaux State forest(see "Be Wild" for the area: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDj2njX6e7Q )

Sound cool? I think so!

« on: December 27, 2009, 03:08:22 PM »
Hey guys,

January 10th is about the one year mark for Frederick Parkour, so we're celebrating that by jamming out like the animals we are.

So January 10th at Noon in baker park by the bell tower, then move around town to all the spots, and we'll quit when its to dark to see.
This would be a good chance for all you out-of-towners(DC/B-More, etc.) to come train on the best areas in MD.(yeah i said it!)

Food is located near our training spots in fact some of our training spots are restaurants , so bring a lunch/dinner or bring a few bucks for 5 guys, the pizza and pretzel shop and what have you.

Socialize / I want to Remember today because...
« on: November 24, 2009, 02:06:36 PM »
(word to mods, if you think this is too close to the "what made your day thread" feel free to lock it, i just thought it would be a fun idea to share)

Life is a journey. A trek towards our goals.
Time separates us from our summit.
But that time in between now and our eventual achievement is not meaningless, that time is life. Life is the thing that happens between occurrences, the seconds that fill the gaps. Today, and everyday, our lives move quickly; our lifestyles are fast-paced, moving from place to place, idea to idea, as quickly as the fleeting whims of a distracted child. Our focus is moving ever farther from today to tomorrow. How can we ever be fulfilled, satisfied, or learn anything from today if our minds are always asking "What's next?"

How much of today do you remember?
Probably not much.
Is it even worth remembering?
Most Definitely.

I want to remember today.
Today is life, It is all we have.
Yesterday is a memory and tomorrow is an ever fleeing idea.
I want to remember my todays, my yesterdays, my life.

Our time defines us, its important to know our own definitions...

So ask yourself everyday:

Why do i want to remember today?

Write it down; keep it as a journal, or just think about it at the end of the day.
It could be a simple sentence "I want to remember today because..."
Or pages detailing the the words you spoke to the things you felt.
It is all important.

"This is your life and its ending one minute at a time."
Make it one worth remembering.

Socialize / Essay i wrote about parkour
« on: November 17, 2009, 09:40:30 AM »
So i walked in late to my Eng. Comp. class today, to hear my professor reading my essay aloud to the class. Apparently she had thought it was great and i got an a+.
Its a cause/effect essay on how parkour has changed my life and i thought i'd share it.

A New Day

Our lives change, we change, and the world turns. Ends become beginnings, means to other ends, and the world turns. We achieve our goals, and the world turns. We eat, fight, love and die and the world turns. But in between all of those occurrences, the seconds that fill the gaps, is something we call life; and life changes. The occurrences that it lays between mold it, shape it, and reshape it daily, minutely, even by the second. Some of these occurrences make great changes. In my own life, the discovery of parkour was one such occurrence.
Throughout high school I played soccer, both for the school and in another league.  I worked hard, I practiced hard, and I played hard.  Every morning my dad would take me to the gym at 5 am to lift, to help me get stronger for the games ahead. My mornings and afternoons were taken by soccer, and my days were filled with school. I was never on time to school, in fact my junior year I was late more than I was on time(some things haven’t changed). My first period was my AP class and despite my chronic tardiness and absences I received an A in the class, a 5 on the AP exam, and was offered a job by that teacher after she left our school. This of course didn’t please the administration, but what did I care?   School was always easy, and by the end soccer was just a means to stay in shape, so I had to find a new way to challenge myself.
The new challenge I picked up was parkour. It was an easy transition since I was so active, a lot of the training I had done for the past several years gave me a strong foundation. I spent a little time messing around, hurt myself a few times, and climbed up then jumped off of things I shouldn’t have. I didn’t really know what parkour was. I was introduced to a community at americanparkour.com through a guy I met while practicing. Now with a resource and community for learning, I found the real parkour, and my life undertook a great change.
As I trained I grew, physically, mentally, and spiritually. The hard discipline imposed by my past coaches began to be something I expected from myself. There are no coaches in parkour, and as soccer faded out I had to keep myself in line or I would not progress.  But what did all of this training serve? What was the purpose for my hard work? I might have answered to have fun, or to get better at parkour, but that had changed as well. The goal switched from improving my parkour to improving myself, and through improving myself trying to improve the world we live in. This is being strong to be useful(a common motto of parkour), to train myself to help others. As I adopted this new philosophy it bred an almost spiritual reverence to the people around me. Gone was the anger towards others, gone was the angst of a teenage boy, in came a need to respect differences in order to be useful, in came a purpose.  Upon those contemplations came a change in lifestyle as well as a change in politics.  The change in politics gave me an impetus to write, and through that writing I improved myself yet again. I became stronger in my writing style, and through that can be useful in influencing others to better paths.
From the way I move to the way I think, even to the way I plan to provide for myself, parkour has changed my life. It has helped me mature, has broadened my perspective(and my shoulders), and tempered my personality. The world will keep turning but thanks to parkour, for me, it will be a little different the next time the sun rises.

(I didn't want to bias your initial reaction by telling you i wrote this in an hour at 3 a.m. the day it was due. I thought it was pretty much crap when i handed it in.)
