Not getting too much interest in general. Anybody else here on the forums interested in this jam? Otherwise I'll cancel and schedule a jam for another time.

Not really, but you could take the metro pretty easily.

So when the Salisbury guys came up for Beast Coast this year, we were big time late and missed the entire Gateway Park part. Basically, the only person from here that has even seen Gateway Park is me. So because of that and because we have a handful of new people even since May, it's time for a road trip!

Can't make the Fredrick jam the week before :'(, so like the subject says...

Saturday, Oct. 9
Meet at Gateway Park in Rosslyn at 1:00pm

Man! I wish I could be there! I'm moving out the day before (different house, same town). Gonna miss seeing you at jams man. Keep in touch.

Mid-Atlantic / Camp Agape: Volunteers needed for this Tuesday
« on: August 07, 2010, 05:05:32 AM »
If you're free this Tuesday (8/10), hit me up at daedalus921 @ yahoo . com

This week I'm a counselor at a camp for kids that have incarcerated parents. Every year I do a small parkour training session with them and talk to them about how overcoming physical obstacles helps overcome mental obstacles. If you'd like to be a part of this, email me at the above address. The address is (Camp Mardela) 301 Deep Shore Rd. Denton, MD. It's right off Rt. 404.

Edits: We've got 1 confirmed and 1 unconfirmed new counselors. Therefore, we still need 2-3. Also, the training date has been changed to July 10th.

We will have parkour training sessions on Thurs. for the kids as per tradition, but I'm not going to talk about facilities. The counselor position has next to nothing to do with parkour unless you consider it a mental obstacle.

*At this time all positions are filled for female counselors. We still need 2-3 male counselors.*

Camp Agape is a week-long residential camp run by the Episcopal Diocese of Easton for kids with incarcerated parents. There will be approximately 53 campers of age 6-15, 12-15 counselors, and various staff. The camp is held at Camp Mardela on Deep Shore Rd. in Denton, MD. While it is a Christian camp and there is Bible study, we are open to respectful, open-minded, caring individuals from all walks of life. Our goal is to show these kids that their lives actually matter and that there is a community willing to help them achieve their own goals and dreams.

Counselors will need to attend training on location on Saturday, June 19th July 10th. The camp itself will be held Sunday, August 8th through Saturday, August 14th with counselors reporting to camp on the morning of Saturday the 7th. Those counselors bodily present (dead or alive) on the afternoon of the 14th after clean-up will receive a check for $599 (non-taxable).

Job description:
Counselors will supervise campers at all points of the day including sleeping, shower time, activities, and meals. Every day counselors will be provided with break time for personal hygiene, naps, outside communication, etc. However, counselors are "on call" 24 hours a day.

Applicants must:
-be at least 18 years old.
-have patience.
-have outstanding interpersonal skills.
-be willing to get in the swimming pond, at least in the shallow end if you're uncomfortable with swimming.
-encourage and support children in participating in activities.

Applicants would preferably:
-have experience working with children especially in a camp environment.
-have CPR and/or first aid certification.
-know a number of camp songs and games.
-have conflict resolution experience.

Background checks will be conducted.

For more information, visit

To apply, send me a message.
I'm posting this on APK because I know a number of people who I would consider qualified in the Mid-Atlantic area alone. Plus, traceurs have a lot of energy and believe me, you'll need it!

A bunch of us went to the Primal NoVa Grand Opening. Twas sweet. Good times had by all.

Gave SU a serious look for the first time this past Sunday. Found 12+ spots that are awesome. There are spots for vaults, wall runs of various heights, pop vaults, rails, precisions, just about anything you want. Unfortunately they're spread out all over campus so it seems like it's hard to get a good flow going.

In other news, Beast Coast is in 11 days. For those going: We leave Salisbury before lunchtime on Saturday 5/29. Plan on staying in/around DC Saturday night. Sunday we'll stay til about 4 or 5pm before heading back to Salisbury. I'm working on getting waivers which we can download, sign and send back before the weekend starts so we can participate in stuff at Primal. Bring a sleeping bag, deodorant, toothbrush/paste, and money for food and gas and a metro pass (if necessary).

Hey Skipper. This year I'm bringing a bunch of people who are under 18. Could we get a link to download the Primal waivers?

A safe assumption would be 12:00 or 1:00pm Saturday 5/29 to 5:00pm Sunday 5/30.

I deleted my posts to undo any thread hijacking.

Our pleasure. Thanks for the props. I'm pretty impressed with Connor, Nick, and Ryan myself. They made hella progress for it only being their FIRST day doing ANYTHING parkour specific. Looks like our community has a few more regulars. Thank you so much for all your help with everything and for showing us around.

AACC meet was pretty cool. Besides Nick (who coordinated the jam), there were 6 of us from Salisbury who went up. We went all over the campus doing different things. Security was actually friendly too. Pretty shweet. 4 hours travel time for 3 hours jamming was a little harsh, but it was worth it.

Yesterday in the park we had 6 people total. As for next week, we're gonna meet on Saturday Monday instead of Sunday since it'll be Easter.

Invader's in Salisbury.

Adam McConnell (Soldier) is in Easton. Besides being a traceur, he teaches yoga at Primal. I live in Princess Anne. Greg (Schlickmeister) just got on APK, he's in Salisbury too. Jon C's in Salisbury. Those two are the regulars. There's also Ravi who comes to the Salisbury training sessions once in a blue moon. Amberleigh too. They're both in Salisbury. Alex isn't into parkour really, but he came to a Philadelphia jam with me one time. He's in Snow Hill. With the exception of Adam, everyone I just mentioned has only really started training this past fall. We're all pretty beginner level.

Waiting on an update/confirmation for the AACC meet. Assuming it's happening on Saturday I'm giving a ride to 2 people and have space for 3 more. Sunday is on for training at the park at 1:00. Should have pretty good weather this weekend for once!

So we've had quite a few sessions since this thread was last updated. Once was in 24 degree weather. Although there was quite a while where we didn't go out due to really friggin soggy ground, feet of snow, or the birth of my daughter. Anyhoo, we had 2 new people this past Saturday. We hit a couple of spots around the park and then went over to Schumacher park for a few.

Anyway, a few of us were thinking about carpooling up to Anne Arundel Community College on 3/27 and maybe the Hebert class at Primal on the 2nd. Besides that, there's the regular Sunday meets at the park (maybe not again til after Easter?). Plus it looks like 'dune runner' has plans for OC jams. txt me if you're interested in getting involved with anything (make sure to say who you are). My phone # is in the first post of this thread.

Looks like we're heading into a pretty busy season! :)
