They were alright. I think that the bright colors are a little too overpowering though. I did, however, like the shirt that said Parkour down the side. If it was black with white lettering I'd think about wearing it.

I assume that you want an answer but, I can't figure out the question. Call me back when your head is clear.

Dude, don't worry. First, 19 isn't even close to old. If you want an example, look up Jujimufu. He's about 27 and still doing double backflips. Second, don't worry about the shoulders. Just make sure you condition yourself slowly. Third, you can do anything you can put your mind to. If you practice freerunning consistently for a year, you'll already be better than 90% of the average joe popping backflips. Good luck mate, and stay connected.

You are stating what I have already stated again. I said at the start of this thread that it was probably just me being a bit picky about what I see. Plus, everything I listed were true things that I had saw and if you are one who thinks digging a bench from the ground at a park and dragging it around, and speeding down a tightly packed road in a vehicle is good behavior, then IN MY OPINION you should reassess what you see as being "right" and "wrong".

Things like what they did to the bench is the sort of thing that will give parkour a bad named and help get it either banned or confined to PK parks, and the speeding down the tightly packed road is just dangerous and could get someone hurt or killed.

In these two instances I feel I am NOT being a baby about it, but concerned for the greater good.

You said you would be picky, and now you're being plain whiney. I did not say once that digging up a park bench and dragging it around represented parkour OR good or bad behavior. I just said that they hadn't necessarily harrassed anyone. Now if they had got the bench and bashed a car window in, then maybe you would have an argument point. But you have gone from a simple debate, to whiney baby who feels cornered...

Well, so far I have contracted the following sicknesses from Parkour: excitedness, freedom, hunger for knowledge, and sore legs from flipping around all day. I'd say that it definetly strengthens the mind, and the body!

Show them King David's "Belated 2010" video. He sticks to the ground, no flips, but yet it still speaks to the central idea of what parkour is so you wouldn't be leaving them in the dark about what you are doing!

Just an idea. =P

Yeah, but that's not a very good example. His superiors are gonna see this and think that he's gonna be jumping all over the place. Next thing you know, he'll get sucked into a B-52 engine or blown away by a Minuteman missile, and then there will be buckets of paperwork...

Really? Your confident you have viewed the same single video that I have? I am looking at Smitmedia's youtube right now and all their videos are there. Also, I have to reiterate to you that it wasn't from just ONE video I saw these things from. It was over the course of several videos. So there is not ONE SINGLE video where they are just running around doing rude things.

Anyways, I did not start this thread to argue.

But I suppose that whole "obscure channel" thing is true as well. Most people just type in "parkour" or "freerunning" into their browser. Chances are they won't find alot of the channels that one of us might have subscribed to. That is a decently valid point.

Well since commenting is now considered a lost form, I just noticed that the videos are back up. And yes, at the time I was confident that I viewed the same video as you. And I watched the other videos, and it seems you have become quite picky with what you could call "appropriate material".

Actually, I didn't make it seem like they were doing ANY of that. I actually made a list of things I have seen in the videos and I didn't say "bashing in car windows or shooting cops". Also, I did not mention a SINGLE video so whichever "video you just watched" probably at most, had one of the things I was talking about if any at all.

Again, I don't want anyone to take this post super serious. If the whole of my message was read then you would know that I also admitted that my judgement on this matter could be absolutely obscured and I might be seeing it with a little more harshness then I need to be. Which is why I have appreciated everyones input on the matter because it is nice to get a view from someone else and can possibly help me see it in a way I hadn't before.

Back on topic, I've never been bothered by music choice, myself.

On the subject of "being saints" I don't expect traceurs to be saints. I just thought that some of the stuff I have seen from them had crossed some kind of a line, but maybe thats just me being too strict on a specific situation. =P

Well, I was just stating that is wasn't as bad as you made it out to be. And I'm fairly confident that I viewed the same video as you, considering how all except one have been removed...

I assume that you're in the air force? I'm actually mildly surprised. The air force is usually extremely lax. What squadron are you in?

Parkour And Freerunning / Influence on Parkour
« on: September 08, 2011, 11:43:49 AM »
I seem to have noticed that parkour and freerunning are often mashed together in the same category by some observers. However, tricking, is a completely different story. Has tricking ever had any influence on parkour? I see tricksters do parkour moves all of the time, a.k.a "hybrid" tricking.

Yeah, like someone said: you aren't supposed to be comparing yourself to others in Parkour, but yeah, the Russians are straight up crazy! They're always jumping off of cranes in Vladivostok, and their Soviet era playgrounds are freaking heaven. Not to mention a good choice of music in their videos...

Yes but a sampler usually entails multiple items. Parkour is one item. So where exactly is the sample?

Okay, I just watched the video, and dude, they weren't doing anything that bad. You made it seem like they were bashing in car windows, shooting cops, and tresspassing on property. And I know I didn't see any sex toys (unless I am blind) which I am not because I saw your finnicky post. And not to mention the lack of your accused "harrasment".

Why are parkour and tricking videos called: "samplers"? Kinda reminds me of a box of chocalates....

Gonna have to agree with Colin here. We want to give a good label to parkour, not Punks Gone Wild: Parkour Edition!
