Nice stuff to practice in the gym.  It would be nice to have a TV special that was actually on TV on a regular basis.

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: Belle selling out?
« on: October 02, 2006, 05:40:37 PM »
If any of you were offered to be payed to do some freerunning I am sure you would.  It is really hard to sell out with PK or Free running (If you diferentiate the two).  I mean think about it, you are still jumping around and using movement, PK is not like music where you change what you play so you can make money.  Movement is movement.

Make sure you have nice solid rolls down and practice on technique all the time.  Other than than general fitness makes it all easy.
What is a good height to roll at or should roll all the time?

I would suggest taking it low at first, get a good roll just on the ground.  Noth hurts like jumping off a roof and not knowing how or if to roll.  So when you have a good roll that is tucked and clean start with body height plus a foot or two and figure out what you are comfortable with.

My nickname is Theivv, I won't tell you why, but I don't use it.  In fact at jams everyone calls me Patrick, or Pat.  With the occasional Theivv when I pull off a nice theif vault.

Gym jams are a great way to practice moves you are not sure about, and find your capabilities in a forgiving enviroment.  Also a great place to practice acrobatic freerunning.  You just get a bunch a friends to go to a gymnastics gym and do pk stuff.  In Reno NV we have one every Saturday.

One word, Gym, practice in a gym.  I did it on a picnic table and tweaked myself.  I find hand spring vaults are fun in videos but they can be risky.  I would use a Kong or just a spin vault.

You guys live pretty close to Reno, you should come to our Gym jams.  We are getting a ton of people.  At least eight guys come to each jam.  We also do street jams, so if you every want to do one of those we could headup to UNR.
