How do you get started with Palm spins???
i personally find that crossing your hands makes it easier but here is a tutorial.

for palm spins anyways

for a progression, just do the motion and land ON the object, like a short table.  then eventually spin farther and eventually get your feet across to the other side.  remember to NOT freak out and let go in the middle.  if you dont let go, then you WIIL keep going, so don't freak out.  and if you somehow biff it, then just get back up and do it again.  no big deal.

if you dont want to go backwards (which you dont), then look at a point in front of you about twenty feet in the air or so.  like the top of a telephone pole or something.  where its natural to look at but not too low.  when you do your backflip, you want to try to look at this object as long as possible.  if you do that, you wont throw your head back making you go back, and it keeps your head in a straight alignment with your spine alowing you to rotate faster then you would with an arched back (which is a result of going backwards).  i learned a backflip by doing it on a hill then gradually going to a lower incline.  On the trampoline, i would throw my head back for the backflips.  dont do it.  it took me forever to get out of the habbit (about 2 years or so.  what can i say? i learn slow at some things) and now i have a good back tuck on the ground.  spotters do help.  matresses can too, but they make you think to go back so you can land on the matress, and thats the downside of mats.  unless you have a firm mat and preform the whole thing on it.  like standing to landing.  the only thing that is hard about a backflip is getting over the fear of going backwards, and once you can do that, you will be able to do them in your sleep.  i mean realy, what's behind you?  a trampoline? grass?  go for it.

most right handed people have their left hand as the pivot hand with a wallspin.

i'm the same way man.  whenever i try to learn a move from someone else, they say "put your dominant foot here" or "put your dominant hand here", i just go with one or the other.  in parkour you have to learn to be ambidextrious.  i say just go through the move step by step using all of the same little techniques and you'll eventually get it.  if you want to see a video of it happening, take one of yourself and just use the tool that makes it a mirrored image.  thats all i really can say, sorry if i didnt help

I can do barrel rolls off of a ledge and land on the same leg i jumped off of, but i cant do B twiats. i do the same amount of rotation but i just spun the other way.  when i try a B twist o dont get enough rotation and land on my back.  or i just psych out and roll out of it.  i have watched every tutorial out there so those arent going to help.
any tips?

there are things like the Air Alert program which improve your jump.  it takes 15 weeks but it improves it by 6 inches at least.  talking from experience.
