In the Media / St.Lous PK showcased in Washington U Paper
« on: October 04, 2010, 05:44:07 AM »
I know there are a few stereotypes about skateboarding in there and I don't think those were quoted 100% accurately. Other then that though it is a great piece about Parkour in St.Louis.

Diet / Addicted to cheese
« on: October 03, 2010, 01:12:16 PM »
So as the title suggests I am addicted to cheese mainly Cheddar and American. I know that it is not healthy accept for the calcium which you could get other places but I still add it to everything. I was wondering is there a healthier alternative to cheese or any healthy cheese recipes or should I just treat it as a treat. (no pun intended)

Because it is that, bread and eating to much that are my weight loss problems. The last two I am working on. I have almost cut bread accept for once a day and that is whole wheat and I am eating less.

Injuries - Discussion / Sprained or strained ankle
« on: September 30, 2010, 09:35:25 AM »
So If you have been in injury reports you probably saw mine from Saturday. I know it has not even been a week yet so I'm not expecting a miricle I just have some questions.

1. I was reading's article on ankle sprains and I got to the part where it describes grade 1, 2 and 3 strains and was curious which I may have because my symptoms are pretty much 50/50 on and two.

When it happend I there were several pops that only I heard but they seemed loud to me. I there was mildly intense pain that subsided into more of an ache. (Which it is still doing today half of the time without acetamenaphin.) I could walk on it normally as of Monday afternoon. It never swelled up more then maybe half a centimeter (rounding up) on maybe 20 percent of my ankle. The discoloration came on sunday night monday morning It is just a bruise that runs from area right above the heel under what I think is the lateral malleolus (bone that sticks out a little on outside of ankle) it's about 1 cm wide and maybe 6 cm long. I could not twist to the left (right ankle injury) with out the muscle going up my shins tightening up and hurting. I have full range of motion and it only hurts a little if I lift my toes and point my foot down and when I manually point my foot out. It also feels like there is a bruise on the front of my malleolus bone. Also the same day I could stand on just my injured foot. and today I can do ankle exercises. SO is it grade 1, 2 or 3.

2. I treated it with RICE low sugar intake, soaked it in a hot bath for the tight muscles I described earlier and took gradully lower doses of Acetamenaphin. (None today) Is there anything else I should or could do?\

3.Should I wrap it anymore because It seems like the wrap makes it hurt more or is that because it's too tight?

I really appreciate the help and that website is really good. Hats off to PkChiro.

What you were doing / trying to do when injury occurred?
Gap jump from 3 feet high to about 6 in height about a distance a 3 feet

Where any other people involved?
No not directly but one other person was there.

Part of body  - description of injury, rating of severity 1-10.
Right Ankle- Slipped, fell and twisted heard four "pops" as I went down. Hurts mainly on the out side a dull constant pain no swelling yet and I could walk on it to my car right away. Still have a full range of motion without additional pain. I would say about a 4 for stopping training till at least Tuesday may go to MA class on Monday it depends on how the injury progresses between now and 18:00 on Monday.

Did you see a doctor for diagnosis?
No. There are no signs of trauma and I can still walk on it if I have to without any extra pain.

Did you get X-rays or MRI's?

Picture of the injury
If it swells up or gets discolored I will post one but right now it just looks like a foot.
Could you / how could you have avoided the injury?
Probably it was stupid of me. I did the same thing last week only at a different location. If I had been smart I would have checked the mulch that I slipped on to see if I would slip.
Date / type / severity of your last injury?
Last pk injury was a hurt wrist from poor conditioning. Chronic pain that went away in about a week. Before I joined this forum it was about a year and a half ago.

Notes on the experience? I will always check the landing spot. It was a stupid mistake and I am paying for it. I had been running on that spot all morning and my partner made the jump right before me. I should have checked. I think it was new mulch. Also the tree feet jump across and down jump seemed fine. I have done precisions longer then that and jumped farther then that before many times. I just didn't expect the mulch to move like that.

Parkour And Freerunning / Parkour prezi suggestions.
« on: August 31, 2010, 08:27:31 PM »
So I made a Parkour prezi that I hope to present to the powers that be at my university. I want any suggestions that you would be willing to give. If you see any errors please tell me where they are so I can fix them. Also if you have any tips on presenting they would be appreciated as well.

So everyone knows this isn't to start a parkour club yet. I don't know of enough people who would join or even just sign a charter and I've been looking. Also It's not one hundred percent done. I need to add borders and make it all even and uniform but I want to get the facts, spelling and grammar right first.

Here is the link

O also I was working on this before the new homepage article was up about that huge Virgina tech jam. It doesn't matter I just wanted to make sure people knew this wasn't a spur of the moment thing.

Missouri / Rolla??
« on: August 16, 2010, 05:57:32 PM »
So Rolla being a collage town and being close to the center of the state I figure there may be some other traceurs around. Is that the case? I would love to meet up and train sometime.

In the Media / Good media for parkour out of washington
« on: August 14, 2010, 09:30:48 PM »
So I found this article

I know it's not exactly what we want to here. That it's just play. But at least it's shows our side and that not just adrenaline junkies do it. Also it talks about the training that goes into what we do. I think this is a step in the right direction for the media.

It's better then "the most dangerous way to get from point a to point b".

Also it advertises APK for us   :)

Injuries - Discussion / Mystery foot problem
« on: August 08, 2010, 08:19:53 PM »
I woke up this morning and everything seemed fine. As the day goes on I get this weird feeling in my left foot. Almost as if there is a rock under my middle toe keeping it from sitting all the way onto the insole of the shoe. At the time I thought it was a rock so I ignored it. When I got home I took off my shoe and looked at the toe and saw something odd. It was kind of like a callus only not at all. It was hard and swollen but the skin wasn't the hard part. It also hurt more to walk on without shoes then with shoes. It's located right where the toe meets the foot. I have no idea what this is. And I was sitting when I first noticed. All I had been doing all day was driving and walking (very little walking). On the bright side with shoes on it's more of an annoyance but I was hoping that someone could shed some light on what it may be so I can fix it.

Parkour And Freerunning / Verb that means to practice parkour
« on: August 02, 2010, 03:24:04 PM »
So after writing "practice parkour", "do parkour" or just "train" hoping people would understand.

I thought that we should try and come up with a verb that means to practice parkour. That way people will stop saying "I was out parkouring" Or "I parkoured today." It would be more efficient and it would probably sound better then "I was out practicing parkour today." Any Ideas?

California / Windsor???
« on: July 08, 2010, 03:42:40 PM »
Hey out of curiosity is there anyone in the Windsor area. I'm visiting with my girlfriends uncle and he lives right by the skate park but I still don't think that I could get out except for about an hour or two tomorrow (MAYBE). I was just curious mostly.

Pics & Vids / First (Only) parkour video
« on: April 14, 2010, 07:18:33 PM »
So this video I recorded by myself a about a year ago. I've lost weight since then and gotten better but it's the only video I have and It's never to late to learn something from a video. So please leave your comments and suggestions. (I'm starting to convert what was in the video to a place only for parkour.) I should hopefully have a new video by the end of the summer.
