Wikipedia has a more accurate description.  Men promising to be men...sounds fair to me.

So, a freerunner on his day off, freeruns?  That doesn't seem very "day off" to me.  ;)

nice video.  The guy cat walking up the orange stair incline looks like he's floating up the wall.

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: Is Parkour the Act or the Training?
« on: April 11, 2007, 05:20:19 AM »
This is why I hate the internet.  Too much time to sit around and not go out and do.

I bet Belle and the like never sat around talking about this kind of crap.

My two cents: who gives a crap.  Go out and do what you want to do.  It kind of disturbs me how hard some people want to make sure they're following Parkour, and Parkour alone...the whole damn thing is about freedom, yet people spend so much time trying to tie down themselves and others.

Not sure if this has ever been posted here, but I thought it was awesome.

Poor thing it hops out and then it's all like:
"Oh shi-! I'm just in another cage!

I'm still very new to PK (few months now) and I have to say that the idea of people being better, or worse than others, has never crossed my mind.  I don't hope to one day be like David Belle, I hope to one day be at my best.  I train with guys who can do things I only dream about, but it doesn't depress me, cause I don't think "why can't I do that?" I just think, "I hope to one day be able to do that."

Perhaps the depression problems stems from people doing PK for the wrong reasons.  I do it because my insides desire the movement.  It's completely and totally personal.  If I spend the rest of my life only being able to precision 6 feet long, and only being able to kong over things that reach my belly bottom, well then so be it.  I'm not here to conquer the world, I'm here to move because my body screams out for it.

EDIT:  Perhaps the problem comes from thinking too much about what will come of Parkour.  Will it get sneaker endorsements, will they make X-Game type competitions...who cares?  It's about what it means to you, and you alone.

The Georgia boards here at APK are quiet, but if you're into PK or Free Running in the Southeast area, go over to and come chat with us.

Don't go too thin need something to place your hands on.  I've found that anything between 16 and 12 inches wide gives you enough of a surface to get your hands on, without being too much of a challenge to jump over.

Plain jump over the obstacle first, to ensure you can actually clear it, then run at it and use the cannon ball technique as described in that link.  Your hands should naturally go back, and got it.

I haven't mastered the wallflip yet, but I've been told many times that's it's 10% skill, and 90% mental.

lol, 99% of freerunning videos on youtube are like that
And why do they all use "Lose Yourself" from Eminen?

I love that a good portion of this video is things like them jumping over a flight of 5 or 6 stairs.  But jumping down the stairs.

Now I have to explain to my co-workers why I was watching a video of a naked guy dancing.  Thanks.  Thanks a lot.

I'm more of a "there is no right way, just your way" kind of guy myself.

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: Seb Interview
« on: March 27, 2007, 12:56:28 PM »
I just feel like they're inventing some problem that isnt' really there.
Tell me about it.  It's like the two sides of freerunning and parkour are decided by an internet fight.  Who wants to post the special olympics picture referring to fighting on the internet?

I'm new to all the politics of all this, but it really seems like the people who drive these ideas (belle, foucan, others) are being pushed into corners by elitists that have to have it their way or no way.  I just don't understand why people can't do their thing and not worry about others...

I never go to the front page of APK, so "dude" don't assume that everyone does.
I don't assume everyone does.  But the first response you got was "read the front page" and you instantly assume they meant another websites front page.

I use to bookmark straight to forums also, but it's burned me one too many times, so now I take the long way.

New York / Re: Which Movie Is better District B13 Or Casino Royal
« on: March 26, 2007, 05:21:58 AM »
Yeah, it's kind of an unfair comparison...I mean, talk about budget differences...

As far as PK goes, I was really disappointed with Casino Royale.  There was barely any PK in it, and some of it that was in there was wire work...still a good movie, but I'm guessing you're talking about the PK is both movies...

But I personally think the Casino fight scene in B13 beats out any fight scene in Casino Royale.

There's something very funny about imagining our past world leaders talking like 12 year old |-|4X0rs.
