Injuries - Discussion / Dip pain.
« on: July 16, 2009, 12:13:13 PM »
I have a bad pain directly in the center of my chest from doing weighted dips.  At first I thought I was just sore, but now the pain is worse and comes earlier into my sets.  It lasts for a couple of days.  Unweighted dips and pushups dont hurt, but I can feel a little tightness.  I haven't added much weight, and I didn't experience any pain prior.  I do the dips on parallel bars and watch myself in the mirror to make sure I keep my elbows in.

Some people who do parkour sometimes skirt the issue if they don't know you because they don't want to get kicked out of places.  They just say "we are goofing off" or "we are just exercising" so that people don't report what they are doing to authorities and get them kicked off the property.

Agreed.  I'll try to avoid discussing what I do for this reason and because I don't want to be compared to the stuff people see on YouTube.  e.g. "So you do flips off rooftops and stuff?"

On the list of things that effect your training, foot size probably comes in right after garlic consumption.

This guy is a beast.

Here is the mind-blowing video he made in 2007:

I can't even comprehend the level of skill it must take to do some of that stuff.

I'd like to see a good dive roll tutorial, preferably with a progression.  I searched on YouTube today, but couldn't find anything with any depth.  Thanks and good work so far!

Awesome.  I'm gonna try the heel hang and cat balance extension during my next workout.  I've tried plyo pushups but my feet always slide out from under me when I put my hands on the wall.  Maybe its cuz I'm tall and it's just too much of an angle.  Thanks for the vids!

lol.  i hope this is meant to be funny.

Just because a movie does poorly at the box office doesn't make it a bad movie.  For that matter, success at the box office doesn't guarantee quality, either.

Ahh that trailer makes me want to see that movie so bad.

I really want that to come to America and have subtitles, I mean, it'd make mad money.

No it wouldn't.  Over 80% of Hollywood movies lose money.  What makes you think a foreign action film would do any good here?  I would still like to see it, however...

Keep your chest closer to the wall, it looks like you're trying to climb up with your arms straight.

I thought arms straight was how you are supposed to do it?

You would have to be exceptionally strong to do an explosive climb up with your arms straight.

I think he means your are supposed to do it from a deadhang position, ie arms straight, not do the entire climb up with straight arms.
