Parkour:
First time down to Denver Parkour Academy!
I was a really good time!

I felt crummy and tired after work and almost went home, but turned around and went to class instead.

The classes in Denver are fantastic! Gym Riki and the surrounding area is another great Denver hotspot!!!

Warmed up with the beginner class and then switched to the intermediate.
Highlights of the night:
getting a wall run
challenges outside
Travis' "bad foot" takeoff training
Training during the week  :D

You've got to think of some funny way to incorporate the urinal into your class... (dunce seat perhaps? suggestion box?)

Basic exercises:
50 situps
20 (4x5) pullups (think I gotta grease these to get back to my PB!)
20 pushups
minor parallette work

Want to be mostly fresh for class tomorrow!

Conditioning:

Pushups were pretty weak at class on Saturday, so decided to try and grease the groove a bit...did 10 pushups every 1/2 hour from 11:30AM to 5:30 PM.
Total: 120 pushups

Friday ended up being a wash as well...back to school stinks!!
We did get out to see Dark Knight finally....that movie is AWESOME!!!!

COPK class at Boulder...
This was the week I felt like I really came back....class a few weeks ago was rough with the altitude change and this week I was all amped up from the National jam! Plus, Carolynn is back from S. America so it really felt like old times!!

Also worked out a schedule where I can stay for both classes/jam which is really great!

Beginner class was basics...long warmup and conditioning to start followed by basic gymnastics and some courses. We finished off with some blind training which was different and fun.
Intermediate class began with 10 second drills which I hadn't done before. We then spent the rest of the time jamming around town which is always good fun! We also discovered a new spot downtown and spent a lot of time working some bouldering-ish problems on the state building.

Hi Alissa!

We missed you too! Next year you will have to come and stay at casa de Parker!

I feel your pain with injuries and stress and life messing with your joy.  :-\

I'm sending you some of my positive vibes (now that I seem to have found them again)

And summer is over..UGH! It's like I'm being punished having to go back to work!

I've been expanding my summer reading list and found a great book called "The Omnivore's Dliemma" my Michael Pollan.
It really helped me come to peace with how I feel about food, the way I eat it, and where it comes from! (Warning, you may have the urge to quit your job and become a farmer after!!) You might like it :)

So, you have to tell me all about "Girls Inc." it sounds great! Parkour at my school is not happening this year due to lack of insurance  :'(
Going to have to find another loophole to exploit I guess.

Warmup: Slow jog, 10 skullcrushers, 10 pushups, stretching

Rounds for time 15:00
100 m sprint
15 bench dips (only supposed to do 10, whoops!)
15 squats

I got 8 rounds


I almost puked

Had to bail out early on the Jam on Sunday to lesson plan the staff retreat for my school  >:(
Spent Monday and Tuesday up on Dillon Reservoir getting teachers psyched for a new school year and paddling on the reservoir.

9-12-08

Conditioning:
0.5 mile jog/sprint
20 pullups (5 kipping, 15 sub-bodyweight)
many squats (50-100)
My goal was to do air squats while waiting for Brenda to catch up  ;)
20 pushups
0.1 mi sprint home
core/ab work while watching olympics

What a weekend!!!!
Man, nothing like the BEST JAM EVER!!! to end your hiatus and get back into the swing of things!!!
Highlights:
Warmup at Boulder with 60+ people
Remembering old, stale jokes that never, ever get old
Walking into Cat fountain with somewhere around 100 peeps in on and around!
Playing with boffer swords in cat fountain
Seeing Cat fountain all fixed up and clean..NEW GRATES!!!
Getting fixed
Mark busting the watermelon off the roof!
Being back amongst awesome friends..both new and old..so glad to see those faces we only see once a year!!

What a great weekend to reconnect, remotivate, put injuries and sickness behind and get psyched for a new year of training!

6 mile hike in the Indian Peaks today to get the creakies out of my legs...great to get back out in the high mountain air...12,000 ft feels really cool after being at sea level for so long!!! =)

3 months since last update.... After a nasty cold this winter that led to an inflammation of my pericardium I stopped training altogether. Every time I tried to get back into it I would have crushing pain in my chest! Talk about negative reinforcement!!! I've gained weight and feel like I've lost a lot of strength in the past seven months..but am now preparing to start training again  :D

This summer has also seen a return to rock climbing (my first love) and I am pushing my mental limits on the rock walls. Back to leading 5.9 trad and 5.10a/b sport..looking forward to finding a balance between parkour and rock climbing.

Parkour
Went back to classes yesterday and participated in the Beginners Class. I am a sore little Monkey today! Worked on underbars and on not falling on my face as my body quickly became exhausted!!


Conditioning:
Variations on basic exercises:
"Skullcrusher pushups", ab rows, hanging pullups, plyo pushups, plyo stands, etc.
Also got a preview of some of the "Yamakasi Specials" Ryan and Matt brought back from France
