Colorado / Parkour Hotspot Map....need confirmations
« on: April 16, 2007, 03:53:56 PM »
Hey Guys..

I've been working on putting the COPK hotspots information onto a google map so that folks (especially visiting traceurs) can find them easily.

I need confirmation on the Tiffany square and Fort Park hotspots location. I've never been to them so I just used what info I could find on Google maps. If they are in the wrong place, I want to know where to put them.

The map is currently linked off my puny website found here: http://contactjimparker.googlepages.com/parkerparkour
Hopefully will permanently reside on the COPK site.

Thanks!
Jim

Hey all!
I don't know about you..but I'm the kind of person who performs best when I'm pushed by other people...
I resurrected my training journal after last week's class. You can find it here: http://contactjimparker.googlepages.com/parkerparkourtraininglog

Anyone else keeping a log? Post your link or copy/paste into here.

Thanks!
Jim

Colorado / A little game I like to play....
« on: December 08, 2006, 12:56:41 PM »
Since I've been unable to get myself over to the Spot on Saturdays and get out of work too late to get to Boulder for the Tuesday jams, I've been looking around my surroundings and beginning to look at them through a Parkour lens...training is everywhere right?

So..as a school teacher, I walk outside to dismiss kids everyday at the end of classes. We stand out on these broad steps (about 6ft run and 6in rise on each step) One day I watched one of our students start at the bottom of the steps and broadjump his way up to the top. His teacher and I joined in and pretty soon we had a half-dozen kids trying their hand at making the jumps.

Since then we have been trying it each day as we head out for dismissal. It's killer jump training and a really fun game as we set different goals (max distance jump, fastest time up the stairs, shortest pause in between jumps). Some of the kids here will be great traceurs!!!

Anyway...just wanted to start a post to share..

What's your favourite little game?

Colorado / Spot Classes = Awesome
« on: September 17, 2006, 09:04:24 AM »
MAN that was fun!

Good crowd, good instructors and a totally sick workout for this old guy!! I think everything from my neck down is sore today!!

Anyone have any tips on recovery? My quads feel like bricks and I'm mewling like a kitten every time I go up and down my stairs...

Definitely looking forward to next week. Hopefully bring some friends along...

Just some quick thoughts:

1) If ongoing classes happen, could you look into adding a weekday night class? It would give some of us the opportunity to keep coming without getting too much flak from wives/husbands, girl/boyfriends etc for spending our weekend time in the gym instead of with them.  ;D

2) How about some homework? Either reinforcing skills learned that week, or prep for upcoming weeks?

Thanks for a great class! See y'all next week!

Cheers

Colorado / More info on the Spot classes?
« on: August 13, 2006, 07:19:52 PM »
Hey!
Haven't gotten any info on the Spot website and I was curious about the upcoming classes...
Stuff like:

Do you need a Spot membership to take the classes?

How much are the classes going to cost?

Is there going to be a Parkour specific curriculum or is it more Parkour fitness? (I really need to learn how to wall run <grin>)

Will the classes be geared to a specific level of fitness? Or can any newbie join?

Really psyched on the classes! Looking forward to it!

Cheers
