Thank yous and lots of props to everyone involved!
From the organizers to all coaches without exclusions, to the volunteers, and obviously to all the committed participants, the majority of which had probably to humbly step out of their usual 'comfort zone' (we have one, don't we?).  :)

Bay Area Parkour (BApk) has published a write up on the event to brief the local community about it, by no mean exhaustive, but based on the perception and considerations of its representatives; if anybody is interested you can read it here: http://baparkour.ning.com/profiles/blogs/american-rendezvous-2010

Thanks again and happy training to everybody!

That my good sir, was an excellent write-up!

Yeah, that was a completely awesome weekend! A million thanks to all of you who participated and helped make it all happen :)

Aww Ryan, I'm just being cantankerous.. it comes with old age ;)

Colby, don't worry.. Julie Angel will be there documenting everything, and her videos will be released on Youtube in the future. I think there will also be a couple of professional film crews from two local organizations as well, so there shouldn't be any shortage of footage floating around after all is said and done.

I don't think very many people actually do proper conditioning for parkour to be realistic, so don't worry Ryan, if you condition at all you're probably better off than most :P

It's almost time!

Pack a lunch on Friday. We will be in the Wayne National Forest, and there are no towns anywhere near there.

Muhammad--I didn't really see any stereotyping of Muslims in this as terrorists.  There's a lot of racial divides in this D13, but that's it.  If anything, the Muslim-clothed residents of D13 are just as influential in the final act as anybody.  Won't say how--you should see it  ;)

Cool! I haven't seen it yet, but I would like to with your reassuring input. Thanks for the feedback on that :)

I think it would be cool if the founders of parkour/freerunning/l'art-du-deplacement were involved in the production, and it would be really nice if the traceurs had control of how the show was put together, and also control of how the discipline is represented by the show.

There is a very well developed community of traceurs in BC, so you might check out their website:

We are only one reservation away from having enough money to fly in a 9th instructor from overseas. This is going to be one crazy event.

Today is the last day of registration for American Rendezvous! Be sure not to miss out on this extremely rare training opportunity. It is now confirmed we will be bringing one of the female instructors from the UK (probably Annty Marais), and depending on how many reservations we get today, possibly another additional instructor, which would bring the total to 10 people coming from overseas!

* The first opportunity to train with the Yamakasi founders in the U.S.
* 15:1 student to instructor ratio on Saturday & Sunday, 10:1 on Friday
* Training at scenic Old Man’s Cave
* One of the largest parkour seminars ever held in the States
* Film presentation by Julie Angel, Chris “Blane” Rowat & the Yamakasi founders
* Q&A sessions with the Yamakasi founders & Parkour Generations

Yes, that is correct Andy. No one is paying for training at this event. It's non-profit, meant only to give people a chance to meet and train with the most experienced practitioners available. The money being collected is only to cover the cost of airfare and lodging for our guests, who are flying in from the UK, France and Italy.

Also, Mr. Fred McFeely Rogers didn't have any tattoos. That is an urban legend.
