This game was especially bad though. The Germany Spain game was respectful even though they played hard.

Actually it was a pretty horrible game, from both sides. The ref was completely inconsistent, missing important fouls and giving cards for things that didn't need to be carded, but also not giving cards for things that needed cards (getting cleats up kicked in the chest anyone?).  Both teams couldn't hold possession of the ball, and were making desperate, dangerous tackles in hopes for getting the ball. Neither team had many shots that went on target, the one exception being when Spain finally strung some good passes together and scored. Still, all around a horrible game, really ugly soccer.

Your experience sounds totally different! I'm not sure that applys here at all. It's been a couple days since he posted' maybe he got it out, or maybe it doesn't hurt at all and h'es left it in

True, but i believe that listening to music helps people concentrate because, like people who can fall asleep easier with steady noise/white noise, it enganges a part of the brain that would normally be searching for auditory signals. Therefore when you listen to music, it puts the rest of your brain at ease.  Just my personal theory.  I do believe that Chris makes better points for parkour, that we need to be more aware in our surroundings.  To hear what is happening around us, to hear more than the average person, is something i strive for in life, along with seeing more, to understand things beyond only what we can see.

I'm sure his splinter isn't that drastic, don't scare him! A lot of people have said use a knife if you can't get it out with tweezers, but you need to do it the right way to avoid just cutting yourself up!

But before you go get a knife, try soaking your hands for a bit, or trying with the tweezers right after you get out of the shower, when your hand is moist its easier to get it out.  If moist hands with tweezers does't work then you can try using a knife.

Again this also works better when your hands are moist. When I say moist I mean like, your skin is holding water, not that you have water on your hands. Dry your hands before attempting to get the splinter out, otherwise you won't be able to grip anything. you want to use a sharp knife and cut along the splinter starting at where it went in, only as deep as the splinter, and as short as possible to be able to get the splinter out. Once you've re-found the tip of the splinter you can use tweezers to get it out.

This has worked for me many times, but sometimes, (depending on how deep it is, how big, and if it hurts or not) its better to leave it in.  Some splinters I've left in cause i couldn't get out, a couple days later, just squeezing the area after a shower made it come out by itself.

Good luck with removing your splinters, and train safe!

Amen to that!

You should root for Netherlands because they're cool and wear orange ;D jk but really root for Netherlands.

I DONT want a vuvuzela, I know i have hearing damage from the last game. The speakers blaring the buzzing along with the yelling of the crowds, my ear still hurts...

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: Long Kongs
« on: May 28, 2010, 09:37:55 PM »
While this should be in the Movement section, to get more distance from a kong, you must jump earlier and therefore dive with the feet higher in the air for a longer duration. Dive rolls can help the feeling of being horizontal, because a kong is basically a controlled dive, but practice practice practice. Practice is the key, and getting a longer kong vault you need to step it up slowly. One way to do this is to place objects in front of the obstacle which you are going to kong vault over, more objects = more distance. Keep stepping up the distance to allow yourself longer kongs.

Hope that helped ;D
