2: Nailed my kong over a 4' tall vault box.
3: Nailed my kong across a 3' wide vault box.
4: Finally got my dash vault down.

Well my day started to suck when I saw a girl who looks like my ex, whom I very much unwillingly broke up with on tuesday. Along with this, I can't go do parkour because it is supposed to snow 8-16 inches over the next 48 hours. Finally, all the people who I thought were friends have effectively abandoned me. Those are the things that made my day suck.

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: How do you find your practicing spots.
« on: February 01, 2012, 10:15:20 AM »
Parks, Playgrounds, Picnic Areas. As time goes on, your perception will change and you'll be able to see all the new possibilities. All you have to do is know what to look for. With that knowledge, it's easy to find spots to train. One time, when my family was in the mountains on a fishing trip (that I didn't want to go to) I used the large and small rocks to practice balance, precision jumps and assorted vaults. Just keep looking  ;D

no no no not sliding in itself. that's still parkour. i'm talking about creating a mutant offspring of Parkour involving a suit with a number of pads on it that would slide easily on almost any surface, then
adding that into the standard movements of pakour.

I've always thought about making some pants with some sort of plastic or low friction solid polymer that would slide with ease (there's a sport like this involving skateboarding but i forget the name). So pretty much the plastic would grind down and slide easier but overall they would need to be replaced often and it would not be true parkour.

Well there art two major parts to this. Friction, and force. You are going to need fabric that is very slippery on most surfaces. I don't really have any suggestions, as i have a limited supply of pants at my own disposal. Second, is force. You are going to always have a running start so you actually go somewhere. There will also be a force on your legs and side, that, if you're not careful, can injure you. so be sure to practice how you will go down into a slide many times before you attempt to slide on a normal surface. I would advice practicing on carpet as it is pretty soft. That's about all the advice i can think of. Good luck!

So I was thinking the other day, about a vault idea. I was wondering if it was real or not, or if I actually thought of something new. It runs the same as a one handed vault or a lazy vault, except while in mid-air, you spin in a barrel roll like fashion. If the left hand is being used for the vault, the direction of the spin will be clockwise if looking down on the head from above (sideways direction thing. so you are looking along a line that would run from the top of the head to the feet). If i can pull one off i'll upload a video.

Parkour And Freerunning / Capstone ideas

So, next year (my senior year) I will have to do a project. I want it to be parkour related, but am somewhat torn between two ideas, and could am always open to new ideas. SO, what do you guys think? My current two ideas are to switch to a Paleo Diet fro 3-6 months (and maybe for forever) or make my own parkour shoes/outfit? Do you guys have any other/better ideas?

I would suggest the layers, as everyone else has said, but then also a windbreaker or shell of some sort. It makes being in the snow more bearable (in the case of rolls and the such), keeps wind from getting to you, and also makes drying off very easy.
