Parkour And Freerunning / Re: PK USA
« on: March 14, 2007, 08:29:39 PM »
Interesting thread we have here,

The interest in PKUSA starts earlier and earlier each year, and so do the questions. I Aim to answer these concerns below

We all for the most part know the history of PKUSA and it's relationship with NY, so it is understandable that it's host members would be defensive of it, and much apreciated. However Parkour is growing all over the (Sleeping Giant) and I am proud to see it happen. I have been discussing its future with other membes of nypk as well as reading the various pionts raised in this and other threads on the subject and we have agreed that it is time to share this event, I believe that trying to make PKUSA a multi jam event wil dilute it, and make it less enjoyable, the hole point of the Jam was to bring as much of the USA Scene together as posible for one Jam, so if you could only aford one jam this year, and you wanted to see everyone you posibly could with that trip, it would undenibly be PKUSA. it should be keept this way.

With this, PKUSA will undeniably be held in New York City this year, for the last consecutive year, and will be switching hosts next year. We have enjoyed hosting this Jam and intend on making our farewell for now Jam the best one Yet, We will be setting up a process before the Jam that will comence during to decide were it will be hosted next year so that this debate dose not have to happen again. My goal is to make PKUSA a revolving Anual Jam now as oposed to a fixed one, so that each year a developed scene that is rearly seen by many traceures can showcase what it has to offer, and it is our Hope that this will add to the excitment that is PKUSA, the ability to be Welcomed by a New Comunity each year.

This should be the Jam that all other Jams are planed around. As such we intend to link all subsequent PKUSA's together by having them happen on the Same weekend every Year. I switched our traditional date in April last year to the 2nd to last Saturday of June which was the 17th and this agreed with everyone very much. We plan on making this weekend the New Traditional PKUSA weekend as to limit Confusion. That would put this years PKUSA on June 23rd. or if you want to make it the 3rd Saturday of June (which it was also last year because there were only 4 saturdays last June as opposed to 5 this June) it could be on the 16th of June this year, but I fear too many people may still be in school then, I'll leave that one up for discussion....

This of course leaves July 4th (which was beast coast) free either way. And gives enough time to recoup for PKTO (late July) for those who plan on attending.

I hope these decisions agree with all, or at least most. I know other comunities will be happy at the oportunity to host PKUSA in the coming years and I look forward to attending.

And to my fellow New Yorkers this dosn't stop us from haveing a smaller anual Jam, just helps us share the love. and gives us a reason to leave our city for a while, well those that will anyway, lol.

I look forward to your feedback

(M2 would you mind linking this thread to the main page, as I beleve this effects the USA comunity as a whole)

To Clarify PKUSA will be happening this year in New York, and I've been pondering Idea's for this year event to top the ones I used last year. Our main focus right now is getting NYparkour back up. Were in the Middle of an"interesting" Server change to say the least, but as soon as thats over, which should be soon, and we launch the new Site, PKUSA INFo will follow.

I'm glad that many of you enjoyed last years, And we look forward to this years

Hmmm...... Matthew I'm surprised! I was under the impression that you had a good time when you left my company this Summmer, Although we didn't really get to Jam together, I got no indication that you felt this way, but to each his own.

I hope you visit us again this coming season So we can change this perception you have of us, or maybe you can show us how they do things in Texas next time around.
