I think some good advice at the place where you are right now is to just move and not worry about measurement.
Do your best, focus on building your strength for Parkour, but don't worry if you don't jump as far as you'd like, or if you're not as strong as you want.
In Parkour we emphasize progressive teachings.
We make slow, but continual progress.

I've had similar problems with developing my rolls in the past.
Whenever I jumped from a high wall, my roll would be "forced".
In other words, I would have to force my body to roll instead of being "carried" into the roll by my momentum of the fall, which is what normally happens when you jump and land from a lower wall.

I searched for an explanation, and the best one I found was in this video:

Essentially, the problem boils down to actually jumping off the wall rather than dropping from it.

I once tried to to parkour with a giant foam broadsword as part of training for a Humans vs. Zombies game that was to be held on campus.
I tried a few climb ups and wallruns, and it went slightly better than expected, although a bit awkward.
Unfortunately, the president of the campus decided to strike us down, and made it illegal to carry nerf weapons on campus, so I stopped training for it after a couple sessions.

To me, Parkour is about being comfortable with the strength that you have more tahn it is about gaining more strength. Parkour is about always exceeding your current level with mindfulness
To answer your question, you're really the only one who can determine what "skilled" means for you, but be patient and don't push yourself unless you're comfortable in your own skin.

Not to be to preachy, but the way I see it is that Parkour is for everyone.
Will always be for everyone.
Really, Parkour is simply a formalization and disciplined way of training the natural human response to danger: flight.
You go at your own pace in Parkour because only you truly know how to most effectively flight with your body. You just don't know it yet. But through careful practice and application of Parkour into life, you will.


Once upon a time in my younger and more reckless years,
I decided to climb a wall.
A big wall.
Very big.
The handholds weren't ideal for climbing, and I slipped and was left dangling from one hand some 40-odd feet above the ground.
However, I didn't look down, and I finished the climb.

     Again, APK has plenty of info on this

In summation, there is plenty of stuff to do indoors with no equipment, you just have to decide what you want your goals to be, and to work toward them with every exercise session!

4 years ago, I decided that I was tired of people telling me that I was weak and couldn't do anything physical with my life. I was picked on relentlessly, and while my martial arts background helped in some cases, I still wasn't conditioned enough to actually protect myself. Parkour gave me the strength and determination necessary to jumpstart my life.

Diet / Re: paleolithic diet

API've been on the paleo diet for a couple of years now, and I have one piece of advice for anyone interested in it:
Don't go all out in the first couple months and try to slap your brain around with cold turkey.
Give things up one at a time.
I'm still having problems with binging, because I built up the reflex to binge when I was "good" during the first couple months on Paleo.
Progression and patience will win this war, not brute force.
