I have actually 9 years martial arts experience (16 now) and the flexibility has come extremely useful in preventing injury and allowing for more leeway in vaults (kicking over more forcefully is second nature and lets me corkscrew better). I would certainly recommend gymnastics or martial arts if you have time. If you're looking for a martial art, either do ju-jitsu or tae-kwan-do. Don't jump into extreme martial arts from the start, they assume you can do flips into insane kicks from the start. It's just inhuman. Anyways, yes, I would recommend it but it is not by any means necessary. Good luck!

It may just be preference for you, but be careful for your shoulder when you roll. I've had mine pop out from trying just that, although it was out of a lazy vault down about eight feet on regular grass turf. Just be sure you know limits, your neck and head may be an obstacle for the roll

I naturally have a powerful stomach, so through working out daily and eating well, I am 5'10" and weigh 125. People say I weigh a lot less than I should, but I am rather muscular for my weight and size. That may be your natural body shape and therefore may need to look for a way to work around it, like how I need to be careful on climbs and vaults due to my body frame (one arm slightly longer.)

I have a bad allergy to fruit and eggs of all things, so I was wondering what I could use to substitute these without over consuming other products. I keep on wheat bread with milk and poultry as a daily egg substitute and vegetables and beans to replace fruit. Is this a decent system, or are there other foods I should look into?
