Injuries - Discussion / hamstring or pulled muscle?
« on: February 15, 2011, 02:30:17 PM »
could anyone tell me the difference between a hamstring injury and a pulled muscle?
the reason i'm asking is, today after gym class, the top of the back of my thigh hurt pretty good. i did some stretching, since it seemed like a good idea, but in the next class, i couldn't even stand up from a chair using that leg.
so does this sound like a hamstring injury, or some other muscle?
and based on that, should i RICE it? i really don't want to take days off from running/lifting, but i also don't want to hurt myself more.
any thoughts?

(i am googling this, i just wanted some opinions from people who know what they're talking aboot)

edit: i didn't feel/notice it until the end of gym (after doing a general workout, playing basketball and some dodgeball to end the class).

i'd say the difference is like driving comparing driving to drifting.
one's quick and efficient, the other is flashy and fun.

suck it up wuss. it's only a train  :-Sarcasm

martial arts doesn't really get into flips and what not, unless it's like ninjutsu or something.

OP is an attorney free runner eh? that's awesome!

by day he pushes pencils.
by night he pushes the limits.

i saw videos on the internet a couple years ago and thought "shit. i wish i could do that"
and then recently i decided, 'hey, why not learn to do it?'

man i wish i had a place to train
i live in a small-ass town (220 people in my high school) where everybody knows mostly everybody, by face if not by name.
so i would probably be known as "that weird guy jumping around town" but since i'm only starting this spring, it'd be more like "that weird guy wiping out around town."
but i'm graduating in the summer, so hopefully i can move to the city soon.

hey, i'm from Manitoba, Canada.
in a tiny little town in the heart of the country...literally..right in the middle.
it's kind of cold as hell right now, so i've been working out all Winter, and as soon as it starts to warm up, i'll probably get out there.
