Parkour And Freerunning / "Fake" Traceurs/Traceuse
« on: August 15, 2011, 08:45:19 AM »
After doing parkour for a little over a year I've realized I honestly don't follow the parkour philosophy; for me it's just something I do because it's fun and it gets me in shape. However, I have been told by multiple people I used to train with that if I didn't practice the philosophy it was no longer Parkour and therefore that makes me a fake traceuse. Yet at the same the same time I'm constantly told parkour is about finding my own path. It's becoming extremely frustrating that I'm not considered a traceuse just because I don't have the same mind set, or that what I'm doing can't be considered parkour anymore.
So what are your opinions? What makes someone a traceur or a traceuse?

If this has already been made then *shrugs*

Anyway Valentine's Day is coming whether we want it to or not. Personally I hate that holiday with every fiber of my being. What do you guys think?

Parkour And Freerunning / Uncertain
« on: January 11, 2011, 07:09:39 PM »
A friend decided he was into parkour and he asked could I teach him. There's a part of me that's reluctant to teach him. I'm not afraid he'll use it in a bad name or anything like that. He even diligently studied the philosophy and history of parkour before asking me to teach him which is great. I don't doubt him at all; it's myself I doubt. I've been training less then a year and I have so much more to learn. Part of me wants to teach him but another part is saying I'll make an inadequate teacher for him.  :-\

Socialize / So Girls Can't Ask Guys Out
« on: December 28, 2010, 04:42:48 PM »
I had this conversation with my friend today. She keeps talking about this guy she likes who doesn't seem to notice her. So I told her grow some cojones and ask him out herself. She said it makes the girl look like a desperate slut if she ask the guy out. I asked my mom about it later and she said it's inappropriate and the girl should wait on the guy. I personally don't believe in this. What do you guys think?

Parkour And Freerunning / Teaching my Brother Parkour
« on: December 18, 2010, 05:42:45 PM »
Initially my brother had a pretty negative view about parkour/freerunning. Basically his view was we were street gymnast and when told otherwise he wouldn't listen. That was six and a half months ago. Now my brother has asked me to train with him and that he would be interested in learning. I was rather happy. At first. For the past few weeks he has given me attitude, brags about how he's better then me at parkour, and trying to turn it into a competition. When I insists that parkour is not about competition he says I'm afraid of getting beat. Honestly I'm growing quite tired of it and I'm this close to saying screw it learn on your own. But I'm afraid he'll do something stupid if he trains alone. Suggestions anyone?

Parkour And Freerunning / Getting Permission to Train in Certain Areas

Is there any possible way legally be allowed to train near a building or something?

Parkour And Freerunning / Where Are All The Traceus?
« on: October 12, 2010, 05:23:35 PM »
As a traceus I've noticed a few things with the group I train with. For one that I'm the only girl. And in parkour videos online I never ever see any females in the videos. The few jams I have been to are basically 97% male.

Parkour And Freerunning / Lacking Shoes With Good Grip
« on: October 03, 2010, 08:43:09 AM »
Well I've doing parkour for about five months now and I've finally started to steadily progress. However I have one problem. None of my shoes have good grip. Every time I do a wall climb I end up losing my footing because my shoes have no grips. I can't really afford a new pair of shoes due to financial difficulty. Any suggestions?

Parkour And Freerunning / Maybe I should Quit While I'm Behind
« on: September 16, 2010, 01:24:43 PM »
I've been doing parkour for about 4 months now but the only thing I can do is a lazy vault and that's just barely. I struggle with everything else while people seem to be getting it a lot faster than I am. And I always get called a phony by other people and it just rubs me the wrong way.
