Parkour And Freerunning / Training on your own, some tips?
« on: June 21, 2009, 07:50:42 AM »
So, I've been getting some conditioning done for parkour, but lately my motivation's been pretty low. This is mostly because I don't know anyone around that might even be interested in doing some training and stuff with me. I've asked a friend of mine if he might be interested, but he hasn't gotten back to me in a few days and I'm not feeling very hopeful about that. If that ends up falling through, I guess I could either just keep trying through the rest of the summer until I hit college.

What I'm asking for really would be some advice for training by yourself and staying motivated. I'm not the kind of person to get motivated easily though... But I do want to keep going. I suppose I could drive down the 3 hours to Philly if I really had to sometime over the summer, but it would be nice to have some traceurs close by.

Training Journals / Aether's Log
« on: June 20, 2009, 07:42:45 AM »
So, might as well start logging what I'm up to. Now, I've never actually done any sort of workouts outside of high school gym class, so bear with me here. I've only been sticking with basic exercises that I know. I've seen a lot of different exercises while browsing around the site, but there's so many that it rather intimidates me at this point. Anyways, here's the little that I can do and my current goals.

:Edit: I'm 6'1'' and about 160 lbs. Thin build.

June 20, 2009:

Squats: 40 (could have maybe popped out a couple more)

Push-Ups: 15 (couldn't possibly get out another)

Sit-Ups: 30 (could have maybe popped out a few more)

Goals:

Squats: 60

Push-Ups: 30

Sit-Ups: 50

Get some sort of bar to do Pull-Ups and such on. Got nothing right now.

As soon as it stops raining for once for the past week, get some running done.

If anyone's got any advice they could give, that'd be great.

FAQ / Food for a nutrion newb?
« on: June 19, 2009, 06:37:54 PM »
So, I read through the nutrition info on the site and, well, I was wondering exactly what sort of foods I should get. Being 18 and living with my mom, I'd like to be able to tell her what sort of foods to start getting me. We've never had the most... Nutritious meals. And I'm not very good at estimating measurements for portion sizes. Not to mention the most I've ever made was perhaps boiling some noodles.

So, I'd just like to know some easy(ish?) stuff to make for a while till I get a bit more confident in my cooking skills. I'd also like to know some specifics so that I can make up a good grocery list too. I'd just like portions for a single person, and I could scale them to more people in case the rest of my family wants to try and learn from my example, heh.

Also, I'd like to try to eat fish too, I like sushi, but I don't trust myself that much, heh. What would you guys recommend?

Pennsylvania / North Eastern PA? State College, PA?
« on: June 15, 2009, 03:48:47 PM »
I live out in Lake Ariel, PA and I'm a parkour newbie and I was wondering if there was anyone around here to actually learn some parkour with. Lake Ariel is about 30 minutes east of Scranton and about an hour to an hour and a half north of Allentown.

Also, coming the Fall '09, I'll be heading to State College, PA, so if anyone's up there, let me know!

Welcome! / Richard from North Eastern Pennsylvania!!
« on: June 14, 2009, 07:27:48 PM »
Hey, name's Richard. I'm from a small town called Lake Ariel. I'm a little new to parkour, but I'm really interested. I've read up a lot of information, but I'd loved to meet up with at least one other person to do stuff with. I'll be starting up some exercises to get in shape, but if anyone lives close by and would like to do some group exercises or anything, don't hesitate to contact me!

Aside from that some of my other interests include gaming, art, and computers. I like hanging out with friends, doesn't matter what goes on. Listening to my tunes is a must as well. Can't get through the day without my music.

Anyways, I love to talk, so don't be afraid to strike up conversation. Later peeps.
