Socialize / mass Traceur/Tracuse Friend request on Facebook!!

I don't know if anyone remembers but years back I was on here and one person thought it would be interesting to have everyone friend request everyone else on facebook because in essence we all are friends and family through Parkour. it was cool. I thought it was a good Idea then. I think its a good idea now too.

 I can understand if some people want to remain private but I'll start off. I'll give you all my facebook info and I welcome anyone to friend request me if they have a facebook. just put a reference to "APK" in the request so I know you're not a spammer. I want to see how big of an impact this has. according to the member list there is over 2000 members on APK. imagine all that Parkour camaraderie on FB, ohhh it makes me tingle. haha

Edit: I just realized that Facebook doesn't allow you to send a message with a friend request anymore. so.... if you reply to this on APK people should be able to put two and two together and recognize you on facebook if you so choose to friend them. thats if your name is not different on there.

Sorry if I seem "Out of the loop" but I just realized that "the Freerunner" online magazine is no more, the current and lastest issue was April of 2010?!?!  :o I haven't been on the internet much but to find this out now, its sorta a bummer. I was looking forward of reading alot of issues I would have missed over the years. eh, everything good has to come to an end right? me personally I'm kinda sad,  :'( *Sniff* don't worry .... about *sniff* me..... I'll be *sniff* ok....... *Balls tears crying* WAHHHHH, ahhhhhhh!!!!

Other exercise/ exerience: Mountain Biking, running             
Location where injury occurred:outskirts of a small park
Conditions of location:dry, cold
What you were doing:a 5 ft downhill precision
Where any other people involved:no
Part of body  - description of injury, rating of severity 1-10:Right foot, felt and heard a small "crack" upon landing. Pain level 8/10
Did you see a doctor for diagnosis? no
Did you get X-rays or MRI's? no
Picture of the injury:  nothing to take a pic of, its on the inside
Could you / how could you have avoided the injury? Maybe if I landed more towards my midfoot
Date / type / severity of your last injury? 07-01-09 (ish), rolled completely wrong and messed up my shoulder for a couple weeks,
 pain level a 9 or 10
Notes on the experience? I din't go see a doctor cause I didn't really think it was a big problem,
 and I didn't really have the time, also the pain seemed to go away,
 but little did I know It is always there...
used to be a sharp pain, now its a lingering pain. if I run or jump using my right foot I can feel the pain come back.
but its not as bad as it used to be...idk what it is. someone told me I might have broke a small bone, maybe they're right

Parkour / Diving rolls..... or supermans

I've been doin alot of these now.... Its become my favorite thing to do. and I can find a bunch of spots to do them over too.... like over benches, snow banks, for rent signs, low fences, over the gaps between sidewalks, onto tables.... and even over my friend LOL.

But I have a question though, am I doin them correctly or should I be worried about hurting myself?.... I ask my buddy if they look right, u know, if it looks smooth. well my buddy can't do them.... so all he says is, "yeah, they look ok" ..... so once I get time I'll try to get some footage of me doing them and post it in the Pics and vids forum, right now I have none....But right now I will try my best to describe How it feels.....

ok, so when I dive over the a kong.... but then when my hands meet the ground I try to absob the impact with my arms and tuck my head in at the same time.... it works for me and it feels good, but sometimes my arms cant take it and I get a pain in the arm I absorb the most impact with.... it is mostly when I dive over something longer and I have more momentum. If I dive over something high I go almost vertical but it is different in pain since the momentum is not really there....

ok, so I guess my question to you all would be........ in a diving roll? are my arms supposed to absorb the impact like how my legs absorb the impact in a drop? or am I supposed to tuck right before my hands touch the ground?, leaving my arms with little or no impact resistance...... idk, like I said I need to find time to get out there and film myself so I can show you all what I mean.... and btw, I kinda tought myself how to do a dive roll, so I am unsure if my way of doinf them or if my technique is correct and safe....

I just want to wish every one a Wonderful 2010 and hope that everyone's 2009 was great. Just hours ago I had the best time ever.... getting friend requests on facebook one after another because I made a couple of Facebook groups centered around Parkour.

Alex Mills and Kyle Rudolph from The group Gorilla Parkour is making a video and hopefully it'll be done soon. the APK roof police are now an organization instead of a myth... this turned out to be an AWESOME New Years....

ok.... Its about time I started one of these.... I've been in the mood for training,even though the weather has been crappy, I've been going outside and practicing parkour in the snow and rain. I injured my foot not too long ago though so I have to take it easy. I just got this Iron Gym pullup bar thing today and I'm all ready to get started... I just have a few questions for you guys and gals first.

question #1.... any suggestions on the format or layout I should have this logg be in.... u know... to keep it looking organized and clean?

question #2.... I hear everyone say "GOALS GOALS GOALS"..... well.... what are good goals I should have?

question #3.... How often should I divide training and conditioning.... or should I do both in the same day?

Gorilla PK / Training Log??? (need help)

I see people with training logs and stuff like that on here. And I would like to start one too. It would help me get more motivated and add some Structure to my Training Regimen....if you can call what I do now a training regimen. 

Anyone want to give me some advice and tips on how to start one of these Training logs, and how to stay with it?

Freerunning / Can someone help me on my Palm spins?

Hey guys.... Ussaully I'm a Purist when it comes to parkour..... But I've been intruiged by the freerunning tricks and decided to give em a try some time ago.... I've been trying my luck on Sit turns and palmspins. I'm having trouble though learning to do palm spins....

I have this rock u see, and its what I first did a palm spin on. then after I done enough palm spins on that rock I tried on a Picnic bench. it took awhile but I can do them on a picnic bench now. But if I go and try it on anything more vertical like a wall or tree..... even a tree that has a 45 degree angle..... I fail Miserably. I watched a few toutorials and videos but I just don't know how to spin like that... I should really get a video of me demonstration. hmmmm, not a bad idea, maybe tomorrow I'll do that.

Well, thanks for anyone that can offer help. 

(edit: I took out some stuff about degrees and rotation.... I made it way too confusing.)

Injuries - Discussion / NSD power Ball

(sorry if this belongs somewhere else)

I just bought this Ball and got it in the mail a couple days ago.... Its a Gyroscope in a Sphere, Its a Workout device. I got it cause I thought it would help Strengthen the muscles in my Fingers, hands, wrists, and arms. Also, I've been having Wrist pain ever since I started doing Parkour.... I think its from work also but mostly Parkour.

Ok, So I opened it up and quickly read the directions and in 30 seconds I was spinning it. at first it was weird, but I got used to the motion and I could tell I was using muscles I wasn't using before. I spun it slow, the faster, then As fast as I could as long as I could. Its Intense!! And now, after two days I already notice a difference, The wrist pains I've been having are gone, My hand's overall Strength has increased. and my range of motion seems to be more smooth and I don't have that annoying ache anymore. I personally recommend this thing to anyone.... and I mean Anyone.... Not only is it a great way to workout your hands and arms, but its really REALLY FUN!!! I bought the Classic for $25, and its worth every penny in my opinion. there are more expensive ones that tell you how fast the gyro was spinning and some that even light up.

If anyone seen these or even have one of these I'd really like to get your feedback on them...... Are they as good as they claim? I know I have only had mine for a couple days but Even so, I can tell a difference....

My local Gamestop is going to have a midnight release for assassin's creed 2 tonight, and I've been waiting so long for this game.... I'm so Excited!!! I payed it in full months in advance, and I got the special edition that comes with the statue of enzio (sorry if I misspelled his name) I not going to get one wink of sleep tonight, and this game is going to give me soo much inspiration for Parkour I will step up my game on the street.

Anyone else going to get this game?

Parkour And Freerunning / I'm getting Lazy

I am..... and I just noticed it. Its getting colder and I am not training as I should be, or as I was. And maybe for a week I started trying the APK WOD,  but for some reason I stopped doing them and don't know why.

Any suggestions for getting back "Into the game" during winter and finding a better way to train so I can see some progress? I am thinking of writing down a structure for the week. with alternating days and weeks for conditioning and practicing. but that seems to complex and I don't think I can stay on top of it. what do you guys think I should do? What is your training structure like?


Parkour And Freerunning / I DID A KONG VAULT!!!

Finally!! I've been practicing Monkey vaults for a few days now, I just learned how to do them a short while ago. and tonight I was practicing them again. Then I just decided to run full speed toward a Bench, AND I DID A KONG!!! I was so excited, I just started to practice them on Tables, Rails, Benches, Basically anything that a kong vault would be used for.

I know..... no big deal right? you all know how to do kongs most likely. But I just wanted to share this.  ;D

ok...... a Bizare thing just happened to me today, I was outside and climbing a everyday...... and I see these 13 year old girls walk by, one of them is my sister's friend. they stop to say hi, and I talk with them, blah blah blah, "do you have a myspace?" and I said "yeah"...... "ok, see ya later" aand they left.......

later tonight I was online, checking the forums and seeing if the DvD I ordered got shipped yet. "Ding" my Myspace Tab started flashing indicating a Instant message. I check who it is and its the same girl...... I say hi and we talk for a bit, about school and stuff. She asked me if I used to go to the same school she does and I said yes, I asked if my teacher still worked there and she said yes. innocent stuff. then she started to kinda Hint at the fact that she liked me, well I am kinda wondering why she is saying these things so I ask her flat out...... "Do you like me?" and she says yes. She also slipped in a little Sex talk here and there. Kinda threw me off guard, I told her "kindly" that I did not really like her and that being "friends with benefits" would be un-apropiate. (she is kinda un-attractive too) Not to mention that I'm 20 and she's 13...... but she just said "it'll be a secret of ours and age is nothing but a number" If I was 25 and she was 18 then it'll be a different story, but I told her that I would get in trouble if we..... u know..... and thats when her parents got on and started to yell at me over myspace. I could tell they were yelling at me cause they had all caps and were calling me a punk and a pervert. I tryed to calm them down but they were just not listening to reason. then the dad says he knows where I live and was going to come over and Kick my ass. and he did know where I lived, so I was like "woh dude, do you even know what you're accusing me of?" and he woudn't listen, but kept calling me a pervert and a punk. then the Mom got on and said "He just left and will be there in five minutes", well I am getting ready to meet him face to face, I'm not afraid cause I did nothing wrong. But I wait outside for maybe an hour, and I get bored and go back inside.

I am just calming down now and wondering what is going through their heads, maybe they think I'm a sex offender, I"M NOT!!! maybe they think I want to have sex with their daughter, I DON"T!!! She's just a kid I know that happens to be a friend of my sister. if they had the common sense to check the chat history, they'd see that it was her that offered and Suggested we have sex, and they'd also see that I declined and rejected her suggestion.

What do you think? I am defiantly cutting all contact with this girl, and not going to talk to her at all. but her parents might call the police, and then there will be more un-necessary problems to deal with. I am obviously in the right, but I am out numbered two to one, and they are the parents so the would get the better respect, to them I'm just a Punk kid. I don't know what to do other than stand up for myself and tell them the truth, even though they wouldn't listen to me.

Not that it would make a difference in their minds, but I am a GREAT person and would never do anything to jeopardize my Clean Record, I don't Smoke, drink, do drugs, start fights, or do anything illegal. and I'm a very Kind and Considerate Person.

what do you think I should do?   


ok, I am Bored....... and I got off of work at 10pm so I am Dying for some freedom, but Its raining, so I'm stuck in my apartment. I wanted to go out and train tonight, but as you know...... ITS RAINING!!! After a few minutes of just doing nothing, I am thinking of going out and training anyway.... in the rain..... in the middle of the night. (Still undecided)

So, what are your thoughts and has anyone of you had the same experience where you wanted to train but something was keeping you from doing so? It doesn't have to be about it Raining in the middle of the night. it could be anything. Have anyone else Heard the Call of Parkour? and what did you do when you heard Parkour Calling to you........
