hey everyone. I searched on here but there was nothng poste dby me before or by anyone else so I figured I'd make this thread

Since the new school year is coming up quick I know it'd be a cool idea if some people from the colleges around PA would post some contact information in here (after a while I will update this first post with the info so that its a quick find) so new college goers can get started wherever they may be attending.

Consumer Whores / Samurai Hoodie
« on: November 09, 2009, 11:42:20 AM »
I did use the search function on the whole forum to try and find this but I couldn't get any results.
Does anybody remember the video by the russian guy with the white hoodie that had the samurai on it? He does PK around his city and in the ends hangs out with a little girl at the playground.

I'm trying to relocate where he bought the hoodie. I know the guy posted on the forums with the website and all but I can't find it. Any help?

Pennsylvania / Philly Summer Jam - August 1st
« on: July 27, 2009, 12:59:23 PM »
Terrance (HWeapon) would like to host a parkour jam this upcoming Sunday (August 1) at either Penns Landing or Love park from 10 - 4. Afterward we usually go to Supernatural Gymnastics training facility to work on some indoor training. Directions can be given to anyone who would like to join. The cost for the gym is $10 per person and it is from 5 - 9 I believe.

Parkour And Freerunning / The Use of an "Old Technology" - The Human Body
« on: February 18, 2009, 06:34:19 PM »
For my writing class we have to do a paper on an old technology that has been "transformed", for lack of a better word at the moment, into its new technology and the benefits.

We have torespond to the claim "the history of technologies, scientific, and medical changes is a story of progress from old solutions to newer, more advanced ones."

I find the human body (specifically while doing PK) os a great example of a "technology" that has created newer, more advanced solutions to many of the problems in our world today (transportation, pollution, health benefits, etc...)

The problem I have is getting good sources for this paper. I have a couple:  (Traceurs vs. Porche - transportation and pollution solutions) (Discover Science: the science of parkour - medical benefits and such)
sources from personal experiences of MMA, PK, sports
sources from specific places he makes us use

Other than these I need good sources to help my claim. They dont have to be parkour specifically, but ways we can "re-evolve" our bodies to make use their full potential.

Thanks to all who can help. I will try to give credit to anyone who helps. Or I'll just site this thread and you all get credit no matter what.

Consumer Whores / Need opinions from the vibram 5 finger wearers
« on: February 09, 2009, 12:45:02 PM »
So I definitly want to get a pair of fivefingers for use in various mediums (Parkour, martial arts -thai boxing, capoeira-, regular walking, maybe hiking/trail running, and biking). It seems that all of the fivefingers have the same sole and rubber (please tell me if I am mistaken), but to me the KSOs and the FLOWs seem to have better foot support (I've tried on the FLOWs and the SPRINTs).

My question is what is better for those activities in a city (Philly) that has varying types of weather and landscapes. I like how the FLOWs have an all-around enclosure on the top of the foot, but will that get too hot in the summer? Will the KSOs get too cold in the winter? A $5 difference isn't bad in the price range so either s ok to me in price.

Also, how long do these last? I don't think Id wear them all the time, I want to use them a lot but I think it may take some time for my feet to get used to the no cushion and the toes spacing, etc..., so I dont think they ill wear down quick, but what is the average life span?

Thanks to all who can help... I appreciate it a lot.

Socialize / Post Your Desktops For All To See
« on: January 19, 2009, 10:34:26 AM »
Got this idea from a good thread on a Misc. Discussion Board on a Music Forum I am on.

Right now I have the APK City Heroes Desktop, but I might change back to this:

Just post a screenshot or original image of your desktop... or even a picture of your actual desktop (CPU, monitor, keyboard, random stuff on your table, etc...)

Also this is a good place to post pic you think other make like for their own desktops.

Consumer Whores / Iron Gym Doorway Gym
« on: December 25, 2008, 02:28:18 PM »
My roommate at school had gotten one after I told him about it and was looking at them. We got bored and just started doing pull-ups all the time. I definitly see good results. I also got one for xmas this year to do at home

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for parkour related exercises I could do on the Iron Gym?
Right now I do the normal pull up, negatives (pull-up then let myself down as slow as I can with one hand), and doing hops (pull-up on middle outward facing bars then jump to the wide grip  and let down slowly > Pull-up on wide grip jump to mids and let down slowly) these are fun. Also just holding on to the close grips and switching hand position (both palms out then turn each hand seperatly to make them palm in and keep rotating)

I know its a lot already but any other fun ideas?

Pennsylvania / PK/FR Classes in Philadelphia
« on: September 16, 2008, 10:01:08 AM »
Hello fellow Philly members. This is Casey with some new news.

A friend of mine most of you have met is trying to start up a parkour/free running/gymnastics seminar class in the Philadelphia area through an organization. For him to get the spot we need to have a nice amount of people interested in this program.

We are trying to set-up a meeting downtown on Saturday (9/20/08). We will meet up do some PK/FR, maybe get some lunch, then sit down and discuss about the idea and everyone can contribute ideas.

If you have any questions feel free to txt or email me (

Michigan / Here For A Week (Grand Rapids)
« on: August 01, 2008, 12:45:49 PM »
Hey everyone in GR. Im here for a week visiting my aunt. She live in Grand Rapids. Im not really sure what the specific area is called but I know some surroundings.

Cristen High School is right across the street, with a big country club next to it. Across from that is a middle school.

Theres a small park with a public swimming pool (a slide and two diving boards in it).

She lives right off plainview (main street for the high school)

message here if you know the area and want to train / show me some spots.

Im also gonna try to go to Arials and Baranis next week two time (if possible) so I can meet people there too if you have a specific day youd like to meet.

Hope to get some responses

-Loki (Philly PK)

edit: I think its right near 4 mile if that helps.

Consumer Whores / Resoling the 5.10 Freerunners
« on: July 17, 2008, 07:03:03 PM »
I've seen many threads about the 5.10 Freerunners and that they can be resoled, but I havent heard anything about the actual resoling process.

I am thinking of buying a pair of the freerunner and I really like that they can be resoled so I dont have to buy new shoes a lot, but how easy is it to actually resole the shoe?
