Socialize / What inspires you?
« on: June 22, 2012, 09:34:17 PM »
I've been in a little slump with reality lately, facing a lot of tedious tasks and boredom. So I've been wondering, what inspires you? In terms of inspiration, it can be for parkour, or fore whatever things that inspiration can be taken in.

For me to start off, despite that I tend to have a lot of ups and downs. Watching humble parkour training videos, music, looking up to my heroes such as Bruce Lee, David Belle, Gene LeBell, and fictional characters such as Sherlock Holmes and House because of their defiant, eccentric, yet genius approaches towards finding solutions. Also, strangely enough, I sometimes get inspired by what seems to be the opposite, just observing life in nature.

(That'd be cool if this is a sticky, but if not that's cool, though I just like to see things from as much perspectives as possible.)

California / Anyone in LA county?
« on: June 13, 2012, 09:41:12 AM »
I'm looking specifically around San Dimas, La Verne, Covina because I live around that area. I would like to train relatively close because I use bus for transportation. Also if anyone knows of any good spots, tell me.

Welcome! / Hello.
« on: June 12, 2012, 03:41:43 PM »
Hello, my name is David, a traceur from southern California. I have used this site, but have been inactive for years (the same thing goes for parkour training) I am just getting back, even though I seem to be at a stressful point in my life. I told myself that I need to be active again, and I'm realizing the potential I have in parkour.

I originally started in Fall of 07', but just continued recently as I stated previously. I'm one of those stubborn people who believe there is a big difference between parkour and freerunning, but I also believe that there isn't an exact way to define parkour because David Belle and Yamakasi have their own separate views. I just believe that parkour should be efficient, primal, or having a use of unconventional training for oddball scenarios nature or the urban streets may throw at you.

My other hobbies include surfing the internet (a really bad habit I want to limit), martial arts, reading, writing, poetry, hanging out with friends... taking long walks on the beach; ladies, I'm single!

Tricking / 1st person view?
« on: June 07, 2008, 09:01:39 AM »
I was wondering if someone can show a few flips from a first person view to see how it feels like.  I feel that most people know the steps but feel weird when they attempt it (especially me). Do you think this would help?

Parkour / kong vault?
« on: April 07, 2008, 09:23:23 AM »
I need help with my kong vault, I have been practicing this for weeks and I still can't get it down, I looked at ozzi's tutorial and I looked at a few other ones. My problem is that I have problems bringing my legs to the middle, it goes to the side. Another problem is that I have a sloppy landing when I try it.

Help?

Training Journals / log
« on: March 21, 2008, 04:29:08 PM »
I am 14 at the moment and I would consider myself healthy, i usually drink lots of milk. Yesterday I drank half a gallon, but I rarely drink that amount, but i think i average about 2 glasses a day. This past week i have been having some problems with my head, back, and breathing but thats all back to normal now. This morning when I woke up I got a nose bleed, that's like my 3rd this month... i doubt it has anything to with weather.  I train sometimes during school, and sometimes over the weekend.

My current workout:
Schedule: T, W, F, S
I'm planning on throwing in a few metcons in here
3 sets of each:
21 pushups
56 squats
14 jackknives

1 set of each:
30 pushups
80 squats
20 jackknives

Goals:
Get a six pack
Do that jump over that area of my school (a gap about 7-9 feet wide)
Get my long dash vault perfected
Work on wallrun and tic tac
Learn backflip
Learn wallflip

Give advice, constructive criticism too

Socialize / what if/situation
« on: February 11, 2008, 01:02:05 AM »
This is how it works, one person puts up a situation the second person answers it and puts up another situation; and so it goes on. Now I start.

You are practicing in a playground/park and you climb the top about 15 feet and then suddenly you slip; there are woodchips on the floor. what do you do while you are falling?

Parkour And Freerunning / i'm starting to get the feeling...
« on: February 08, 2008, 09:59:53 PM »
...that parkour is the greatest thing to happen in my life. Lately i've been thinking about what I wanted to do in life but I usually kept struggling, hopefully I will stick with parkour.  I have been studying lots of parkour and looking around for advice.  This feeling started to develop when I was talking to steve low about how my grades suck, then he told me how parkour helps with discipline and since then I have been doing homework more frequently.  It doesn't just help me with discipline but it also gets me out of depression and gets me to being the happy person I always wanted to be; it always gives me a great feeling of acomplishment.

Does anyone else have the same feeling?
