Socialize / weekly online comics that are awesome?
« on: February 28, 2009, 05:45:37 PM »
I know there are a million different weekly  comics, but I'm talking about serious more than just 3 panels weekly.

I just found written by Warren Ellis, and its badass. If anyone knows of any similar weekly comics, I would greatly appreciate it.

Socialize / Just getting into Graphic Novels, suggestions? thoughts?
« on: December 10, 2008, 02:47:05 PM »
Well I started with Watchmen about a month ago, and since I've started Preacher, 100 Bullets, and Invincible. I am half way through preacher and love it, same goes for 100 bullets cept I just finished the first volume. prob wont finish all of invincible.

Any suggestions for where to move on to next? I just got Batman: dark knight returns, and I've been looking at some others on Amazon, but nothing really stands out. I've heard good things about v for vendetta, but after seeing the movie (like oldboy too) I don't think it would be as sweet.

no manga suggestions plz, unless they are just as badass, if not more so than Preacher. (I don't think its possible, but would love for it to happen). Thanks! =).

Socialize / Comebacks I wish I'd thought of, but I'm not that quick
« on: October 27, 2008, 04:27:01 PM »
So I was training a bit of low impact rail work on a single rail in some grass.

girl walks by, "ummm theres a rec center at this school and its free (add the most annoying phi kappa phi ima bitch tone)"

all I could muster was "2 very different training environments." BUT, I wish I had said either of the following:

"How bout you don't tell me where to work out, and I don't tell you where to be a bitch."

"And where would I find a single hand rail in a field of grass in the rec center?"

feel free to come up with your own.

Injuries - Discussion / Knee discomfort, Oly Lifts, and Halo.
« on: October 26, 2008, 04:29:43 PM »
copied from my training log:

I had little bit of pain in one of my knees about a week ago, so I've decided to stay off high impact stuff for as long as I can. Yesterday I learned power cleans and did a couple sets with light weight (probably coulda gone a lil lighter), anyways, now, the day after I'm feeling discomfort in my knees, no pain, just weird discomfort somtimes, and only sometimes, just like in the middle of a stride while walking or something else random.

are power cleans too intense for my knees while I'm trying to get them back to 100%? (even though i feel they're close).

As a whole I've been staying away from all high impact training for a while now, so I don't even know where the original issues came from, although I assume from some jumps or from sitting in a weird cross legged position for to long while playing halo. annd is that theory about sitting weird plausible in any sense for hurting my knees? Like the joints being stressed in an opposite manner IE contracted all the way (as opposed to extended)?

also how hard is it to mess up power clean form? For instance, I felt as though I got the technique down pretty pat yesterday, but maybe just need to perfect it now. Should I stay away from weights completely till then? I did like 3 sets yesterday of about 5 or so reps with 45lbs on each side. and I don't feel overly sore today, just good sore.

and a final question I guess, say I went to the gym looking to learn sideflips and maybe dive kongs, would I be doing a lot of potentially high impact knee stuff? may sound like a silly question to some, but I've never been to a gym or anything like that so I dunno what to expect.

ty to anyone who tries to respond to all that =)

Well, I just purchased my copy and had my first go last night. Such a sick game, I haven't played an MMO hardcore since the beginning WoW days, but I think I may start up as much as I can.

Anyone else partaking or planning too? I still need to decide if Ima be empire or destruction.
