Socialize / song that fits parkour the best
« on: August 19, 2006, 09:58:49 PM »
the song by the all american rejects "Move along". When i heard this song it was like i woke up and realized what you are supposed to do not what you want to do.

"Parkour isn't doing what you want to do, It is what you are supposed to do."

Go ahead as you waste your days with thinking
When you fall everyone sins
Another day and you've had your fill of sinking
With the life held in your
Hands are shaking cold
These hands are meant to hold

Speak to me, when all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
Move along
Move along

So a day when you've lost yourself completely
Could be a night when your life ends
Such a heart that will lead you to deceiving
All the pain held in your
Hands are shaking cold
Your hands are mine to hold

Speak to me, when all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
Move along
(Go on, go on, go on, go on)

When everything is wrong we move along
(Go on, go on, go on, go on)
When everything is wrong, we move along
Along, along, along

When all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through

(Move along)
(Go on, go on, go on, go on)
Right back what is wrong
We move along

Pics & Vids / Wall run king

Socialize / Blow guns he he
« on: July 31, 2006, 05:17:06 PM »
I just got bored one day and i though blow guns! Hmmmm. So i took a long PVC pipe about 1/2 inch wide, and read up online that they can shoot up 400+ FPS (100 more than a paintball gun is allowed on my course.).  Now i read on a site if it is 5 feet long it can shoot like 150-200 feet and it goes like 300 FPS. So i made one and practiced with it until i got really good with it. Then i showed my sis how to do it and had her shoot me. It wasn't near as fast as i can shoot it and it left a little red welt. I shot one at her full speed and it left a bruise. So what i have concluded is that blowguns are powerful, fun, and painful. lol. I use playdoh and clay for ammo, Make sure the ammo fits snug enough to be shot out without air hissing by it but not so tight that it won't go out. hope you get to try it.

Consumer Whores / NewBalance 872'S REVIEW
« on: July 25, 2006, 08:23:58 AM »
The Newbalance 872's are by far the best shoe i have ever owned. They are very expensive at $95.(You can buy them cheaper online.) I hope that this review will make you consider the NewBalance 872'S as your next pair of shoes.

I gave the lifespan an 8.5 because i havent worn the shoe for a long time but the way it is built i think it will last about 3-4 months.

I gave it an 8 in toughness because the top is mesh and i think that that might give way or tear after about 2-2.5 months.

This shoe has the best grip i have ever seen on walls, and very good grip on precision rails. I gave it a 9.5 because if you are doing the cat walk on the rail it can be a little difficult with the way the bottom of the shoe is made.

The insoles seemed to not hold my feet in place all the time. i gave insoles an 8.5 because I could hear my socks moving around inside of the shoe. Now that wont mean that when you parkour this will make you mess up it was just probably me. That was when i was sitting down and relaxing that i noticed that. It is very minor and almost unnoticeable  that was .5 point of it. The other point that was taken away was because they arent the most comfortable insoles you can have.

I gave shock absorbtion a 10 because there is nothing wrong or bad about the shock absorbtion and i can noticably tell when the shoe is taking some of the force out of the impact.

I gave breathability a 10 because the top is mesh which extreamly helps with airflow through the shoe and it helps keep them aired out enough to where i dont get blisters.

I gave comfort a 9 because the insoles werent ungodly comfortable and because the texture of the sole bugged me until i got used to it.(Or if i think about it lol.)

I gave it a 9.5 in weight because i have felt lighter shes than this but they were very close to the same weight as the NewBalance 872'S.

Since the shoe cost me $95.98 i had to give it a 3 in the price category. It is still a very good shoe despite the price.

I gave it a personal rating of 9 because i really like the shoe and will get alot of use out of it. It may not be the best shoe in the world but you can't really get close with this one.

Lifespan - 8.5/10
Toughness - 8/10

Parkour And Freerunning / Parkour friendly shoe store?
« on: July 14, 2006, 04:06:36 PM »
I think it would be awsome if there was a store where you could try on a pair of shoes and then there would be a wall you could run up to test the grip of the shoes and such. and a little ledge that is like 3 feet high that you can jump off of to test the insoles and shock absorbtion of the shoe.

I say they have a you break it you buy it policy to where you have to have the money at hand so you can buy it if you break it.

Consumer Whores / How to rate a shoe
« on: July 14, 2006, 02:51:12 PM »
Me and ungoy have developed a 100 point system to grade a shoe. each point is outta 10/10

  • Lifespan - How long the whole shoe will last. Includesthe inside, The outide, and the sole of the shoe.
  • Toughness - How durable the shoe is. How resistant it is to scratching, fraying, and scuffing.
  • Grip - How good of a grip it gets on a wall, a rail, and cross country.
  • Insoles - This is the padding inside of the shoe. How good they are at cushioning the landings.
  • Shock absorbtion - This is for the heel of the shoe. How good the gel, air, or what ever chamber in the back is.
  • Breathability - How well air can get into the shoe.
  • Comfort - How the shoe feels on your foot.
  • Weight - How heavy the shoe is. The lighter the better.
  • Price - How expensive the shoe is.
  • Personal Rating - How much you personally like the shoe.

Price Scale
0=$120.00- and up

*How to test instore*
You can't test the lifespan but you can guess it by the materials used and how sturdy it looks.

Toughness is is also teasted by the type of materials used.

The grip can be decided by walking in the stor and start jumpin left then right then left until you are satisfied. Notice how much it slides to make your decision. Try on multible surfaces.

Insoles are tested by trying the shoe on and walking around in them.

Shock absorbtion can be checked out by jumping up and down and bending your knees when you land. Also attempt to push on them with your fingers. If they give away a little that is good because they wont bottom out when you land.

Breathability can be tested in a few ways. One is to blow on the shoe hard and if you can feel it through the shoe that is good. Second if your feet dont get hot after about a minute or two that is good.

Comfort can be determinded by how good the shoe feels not how good it fits you personally.

To tell if the shoes weight is good just hold it and compare it to other running shoes in the store.

Personal rating is determined by you!

Free-running is an art. And some of the best art finds its feet in science. That's the Hyperride - where art meets science.

  • It is the first full kength structuredd mid-sole. That delivers the ultimate in responsive cusioning.
  • Injected plastic in the middle delivers superior preformance.
  • The mid-sole doesn't break down. even after 1000km's of extream moves, the a3's just warmed up.
  • Flex grooves for optimum forefoot flexibility and superior ground adaptation.
  • Smooth and clean leather that will get you noticed.

Weight: 125Lb
Height: 5'6
Body/ Type: Muscular can see muscles. Got good legs from marching band. I have abbs but there's a small layer of fat covering them that i want to get rid of. My arms and cheast are muscular but are very small.

Morning: Woke up drank 1 bottle of water. Lucky charms yuk! Outta bannanas.

Afternoon: Ate a steak sandwitch which i put letuce and tomatoes on to make it healthier. Drank about 1 bottle of water from the fountain. After school and during band i practiced hand stands, cats, Bar precision, Vualts and wall runs. Taught my bud some of it too he really catches on fast!

Evening: Drank 3 bottles of water and ate salt and vinigar chips(My devil food). Told my mom that soda was bad and she called me on the fact that i just took a sip from hers. So i told here that it's only bad if you drink 3 a day. It rained so i couldn't go practice pk but my basement is empty so i will practice there for about 30 minutes with the rolls hand stands and attempt a back hand spring or two.

I am moving so healthy food is very scarce right now so i don't eat as much. I have lost about 2 1/2Lb Not uncommon for me i have a fast metabolism.

Parkour And Freerunning / Parkour park
« on: June 07, 2006, 06:56:16 PM »
I have been thinking for a while and it came to me the other day how cool would it be if there was a parkour park like theres a skate park for skaters? Since then i have come up ust to give you and idea i will tell you about one of the courses i was thinking of. My idea for the ground wouldnt be concrete or dirt but that plasticy stuff they stick under kids playground equptment now a-days.

The course would be rectangular in shape, It would be the speed course about 50-100 Meters long or so (Like track if i must say) and it would have walls bars and all sorts of stuff varied through out it. Now like a ski resort there will be the bunny slope the medium slope the hard slope and the double black diamod slope. The objective would be to try and beat the fastest time in the whole course.

Then there would be the square or odd shaped course where there were many obstacles placed throughout the whole area like a skate park would be set up.  One section would have a lead off into another section.
What i would like you to do is take pictures or Rail sytems like in front of big buildings or stuff such as handi-cap ramps. Anything else you can take a picture of will give me more ideas to build off of, and if you have anything to add to this just tell me and i will latch on to the new idea and integrate it into my idea for a parkour park and make a rough sketch of one and post it.

Movement / dive roll
« on: March 14, 2006, 04:40:07 PM »
this is a very cool trick to learn and eliminates vualts over objects that you can roll on the other side. i can jump up 4 feet and to the roll. you run at the object and dive over it with an arc. not a swimming pool ark, but a high arc so u dont hurt ur back. i recomend practicing with a pice of string tied up so it is high enough to dive over.
