Injuries - Discussion / hamstring or pulled muscle?

could anyone tell me the difference between a hamstring injury and a pulled muscle?
the reason i'm asking is, today after gym class, the top of the back of my thigh hurt pretty good. i did some stretching, since it seemed like a good idea, but in the next class, i couldn't even stand up from a chair using that leg.
so does this sound like a hamstring injury, or some other muscle?
and based on that, should i RICE it? i really don't want to take days off from running/lifting, but i also don't want to hurt myself more.
any thoughts?

(i am googling this, i just wanted some opinions from people who know what they're talking aboot)

edit: i didn't feel/notice it until the end of gym (after doing a general workout, playing basketball and some dodgeball to end the class).
