The bald guy is Benoit Lavelatte. He has been in a fair amount of movies, trains with David Belle, and is an excellent traceur.
His IMDb page is here:
Here is a page Take Flight made on him:

A nail will go through regular shoes just like Feiyues. I hope you're doing ok, and get back to training soon!  :)

Do not get the Nike Air Rifts. They aren't minimalist, they just have the separated toes. Overall, a waste of time. The Ariake 3s are better, but there are even better shoes. Maybe look at Puma Cabanas.

That was tricking. You can find help with tricking on the tricking section on this website. :)

Consumer Whores / Re: VIVOBAREFOOTs?

I have a pair.  I've worn them for a month or so of training now.

They are the best running shoes I've ever had, and are extremely comfortable to wear everywhere.  Their incredibly lightness, flexibility, and ground feel make them my favorite pair of shoes for almost everything, except parkour.  The grip is disappointing.  Because of the flexibility I can overcome the grip for things like precisions, even rail precisions, but wall runs, tic tacs, and similar moves are difficult to impossible.

Sadly I have yet to find a minimalist shoe with decent to great grip.  So far my best option is to own a good minimalist shoe, 5.10 Daescents for gravity hacking huuuuuge walls for fun every now and then, and Tigers for the majority of training.  Long live Tigers.

Which Tigers do you wear? Also, which Vivos do you have? I have Neos, but I've heard the Aqua Lites have better grip. I'm waiting on Ryan Ford to respond. :(

Not to hijak thread, but Vibrams has great grip. Whats the comparision between Feyiues and the Vivobarefoots? Anyone know?

Vivos have even less protection and more flexibility, but it seems that most Vivos have trash grip.

I suggest asking Ryan Ford. He wears Aqua Lites. His channel is "DemonDrills" on YouTube.

He died in a parkour accident, fell off a third floor of a building.

His accident was a real tragedy, to all of the fans of Danny.
I pray that his friends and family will accept his passing gracefully.

Rafe, how do you like the grip on Minimus?  The grip on my Vivos is disappointing.  The increased flexibility and huge toe box allows me to use my toes to overcome the poor grip on rails and such, but wall-runs are incredibly difficult. I'm thinking about getting another pair of Tigers, those are the best compromise shoe I've found.

Grrrrrr. I don't know how Ryan Ford does so much stuff in Vivos, because I have a pair and the grip is next to useless. I've heard Feiyues have good grip, but they die out very quickly. I might get some of those next.

Ahahaha, I actually had a super awesome session on Sunday with a lot of improvement. I'm very happy, and am definitely taking the advice of trying something new everyday. Thanks for all of your suggestions! :)

PS: Yes, ( :() I did not train much during the winter. This is not a mistake I am going to make again.

Consumer Whores / Scuffing Up Walls

I noticed today on a cat, that my Vivobarefoot Evo's left black marks on this smooth concrete wall. I only noticed it on this wall, however; I would like to know how to solve this problem. Has anybody ever had any experience with a problem like this?

Parkour And Freerunning / Progress at a Standstill
« on: May 17, 2012, 01:03:18 PM »
Today was the first sunny day for a week, and I was so excited to train. I started with some discouraging jumping, managing a measly 13 foot running jump and a 8 foot standing jump. The next disappointment was some rolling. Before the winter, I had a great roll. Completely painless on concrete. Now, after the winter, I've been trying for the past month to get my painless roll back. But it isn't happening! My shoulder blade hurts no matter what I do to my roll. After that, I just sat around. Wondering what to train. I thought about how much I've progressed. Honestly, I am not happy with my progressions. An improved speed vault, slightly better balance. That's it. I just feel so discouraged... What can I do get into some steady progress?

The thief vault is not really it's own vault. It is a lazy, and people have all kinds of different definitions for why it varies from it. I just pair the thief vault with the lazy, and call it a lazy.

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: Freerunning Gym Pants!

Okay... What is your point?
Also, I hardly think parkour (or freerunning) is all about stylish pants. Just because many prominent freerunners have them, does not mean the movement revolves around them.
Also, why do you care if people do "gym tricks"? And why are "gym tricks" any different from a parkour movement? One is efficient, one is aesthetic. Who cares?
