Parkour And Freerunning / Re: Your greatest bails
« on: June 18, 2011, 05:52:32 PM »
Yeah I have more bails than fails, but I guess the worst one was when I was trying a kong over a fence to sidewalk then precision to a small cement strip about 10 steps away. I've done this kong hundreds of times and don't know what happened, but my right foot caught the fence and I went down. Going down didn't hurt at all, but the impact to my toes freaking hurt and I still decided to train til I landed it. So 10 minutes later, I finished the movement twice and went home. A day later, I found out that I broke 2 of my toes  :P

Basing my opinion on people I've come across. Mostly all the people get Macs that I've known is because they don't know WTF they're doing when it comes to computer specs.

Exactly and they all try to tell me how much better Macs are at stuff and once I prove them wrong they get all defensive and just start spewing off the stuff they see on the commercials without even knowing what they're talking about. Macs are the hipsters new toys. They just wanna be "cool" so they buy a Mac...

But I'm proud to be the only filmmaker I know who still uses a PC  ;D

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: To Build Confidence
« on: June 13, 2011, 05:14:51 PM »
Just like Andrew touched upon, the starting stages are always embarrassing, but EVERYBODY goes through it one way or another. And it doesn't even stop with parkour. If you're always worried about what people will think about you, you're not going to reach your full potential in life... with ANYTHING...

I use to be super quiet and lacked confidence like no other, but parkour was able to change that for me. I didn't have any private places to practice, I HAD to practice with cars driving by. But after a while, you just get use to it and have to remember that you're doing it for YOU not for them. And if anyone makes fun of you, tell them to try it and (from experience) 99% of the time they won't. And if they do, they fail and fall on their face which lets you make fun of them in return ;D

Hell no, macs f#cking suck.

I love you man, haha. I HATE Apple products and everyone around me and all those who make films thinks that you need a stupid Mac or Apple products in order to make good videos and films and stuff. I've used both macs and pcs for making videos and FCP always screws up my projects  >:(

Anyways, if you can, get the model number and info next time you go to walmart and I'll take a look at it online and let you know if its worth it.

As for programs, you could always download the trial version of adobe's production premium package on Adobe's site then keep downloading the trial to use it over and over. That's what I did. I downloaded the 30 day trial, and for some reason it stayed after the 30 days so I just ended up getting a keygen generator off my friend and now I have the full version. You can do this til you get enough money to buy "Adobe's Production Premium"

Oh and your goal of having good audio quality is not gonna happen. ALL mics on cameras suck, and if you ever want good sound, you'll have to buy an external mic and plug it in. Or if you don't have the money for that, you'll have to re-dub the voicework and do a whole lot of sound mixing while editing. That's what I've been doing for years and it works good if you practice at it...

Tricking / Re: Help with 540 tornado kick...
« on: June 12, 2011, 01:32:54 PM »
Thanks for the help everyone, I'll just make sure to practice my kicks more and work on stretching as well.

@Kyle, yeah I'm super new to tricking and don't really understand the terminology yet, but I think I know what you're saying... And again, I said a super rough version. Unless what I'm doing is different? From what I've read, as long as you land on your kicking leg then its a 540 tornado but maybe what I've read is wrong?

@Devintheninja, Yeah again, I'm just starting out and heard/read that this was the first thing I should learn and its like a prerequisite for the other kicks, but if theres other basics that I need to know, then any help would be appreciated :D

Thanks guys

I'm saving up for an HD camera this summer, and I plan to get into film-making.
I already have about three scripts completed. :P

That's awesome man, way to put in the work! I love telling stories and making films, but it always takes me a long time to actually sit down and write and flesh my ideas out, to be honest haha. Guess I'm just lazy in that department... But then once I get done with all the pre-production stuff and get onto filming and finally editing and seeing the finished product, there is no better feeling to me than seeing my vision realized on the screen  ;D
But yeah, can't wait to see what you produce! By the way, what camera do you plan on getting? If you need any help deciding, just ask. I've used all different kinds of cameras from all the major companies so I'd be glad to help out since there are some cameras that sound nice, but DEFINITELY not worth it...

Ditto, really good. If I get rained out tomorrow I'll watch some more.
When school and finals are over I want to do a short film (8-12 minute kinda thing) For now I just do weekly sketches.

Or you could do both?  :P Haha, yeah I'd appreciate it man  :)
Yeah, I watched a couple, just keep it up and just like parkour, learn from every single mistake you make and always ask for criticism and focus on what you could do better with your next project. And if you have an idea for one 8-12 minutes long, then just do it! Good luck

Never said it was my first attempt, I've been practicing for weeks now  :P I just finally landed it roughly but as always it could be a lot better...

I subscribed to your channel, I started film a few months ago.

Thanks man! At first I didn't realize that you were my newest sub but I finally linked it back and made the connection  :) Thanks again!

I hate photoshop.

I use to hate it too, but I love it now. I don't tamper with my photos too much, but I normally just use color balance to take away the green in the shot. I don't know, thats just how I roll  ;D

Dude, I watched your video 'Taste of Loneliness.'
I am thoroughly impressed!

And thanks man, I appreciate it! If you have the chance to watch any of my other films, then please do and let me know what you think!  ;D

Ouch haha... I remember when I was at football camp 2 years ago, we were drilling a lot. So both my big toes started hurting a ton and I took a look at them and found giant blisters on the outside of each of my big toes. We didn't have any mole skin or anything, so I had to just keep practicing and the pressure just kept building til one drill, they finally "popped" I guess haha. Yeah so it hurt a ton but the pressure was gone so it kinda felt good at the same time. Then after practice when I was taking my shoes off, I noticed some blood on my socks... Yup, blisters suck...

Tricking / Help with 540 tornado kick...
« on: June 11, 2011, 04:08:16 PM »
So this is the first thing that I'm determined to learn. I've been practicing for a few weeks and I finally have everything down. So I tried it again today and actually landed a few for the first time :) (along with a few front flips, but thats besides the point  :P) Anyways, it seems that I can't get really do a high kick. I can get the rotation and land on the kicking leg and everything, but my kicks seem kinda weak if you know what I mean. Like I don't think I'm extending my leg out and making it as straight as I should. My camera broke, so I can't record and watch myself. Do I just need to stretch more and become more flexible or is there some kind of technique like leaning forward or back to get the kick higher?

Thanks...

I'm a filmmaker and storyteller at heart, but love all kinds of art and appreciate all different kinds of lifestyles...

Then there's rockclimbing and your conventional sports like football (played a bit in highschool), track+field (couple years), soccer, basketball, Photography, whatever really...

But yeah, short films and such are what I like most. Check out my stuff on youtube and let me know what you think  ;D

when even after an injury that you should have died from you still want to do parkour because you have that burning desire to move again...

This...

Also, you know you're a traceur when you "accidentally" leave your cell phone at your training spot after coming home and have to go back to "find it"  ;D
