Parkour / Re: my roll
« on: October 12, 2006, 01:58:24 PM »
Well, the basic roll starts off as a fighting stance, followed by your arm (the one that is on the same side as your front leg) leading you into the roll, and have all your weight on your back, from when your shoulder blade hits the ground. But everyone has their own way of doing a roll. Hope that helps.

BTW, I think this is the right place to post this. I'm not completely dure, however.

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: funny encounters

Some guy, who took care of the baseball and soccer fields, told my friend and I to stop jumping over the fence. But first, he was asking us, "What are you boys doing?" We left, but it was funny. I was pissed off, though, because it was the only area we had to practice.

I like what one of them said:

Yup, and while we're at, we should outlaw all other activities that have a risk of physical injury, like skydiving, and boxing, and pole vault, and skateboarding, and driving, and running without body armour.

It's true. If Parkour should be banned because it's what they call "suicidal", then why not ban them all? Why not ban Hockey, Football, Driving, Boxing, stuff like that? And I thought everybody liked Parkour.

And I thought Parkour isn't a sport, but a discipline.

I really like the car one, and that picture that has the kid sitting at his desk awkwardly on his chair. That's funny stuff right there. I enjoyed it.

Hey, also check this out (read the bottom portion of the page):

For those of you who cannot view it:
Quote from: Wikipedia
In addition to these factual programmes, he has added acting credits and Sebastien will appear as the terrorist Mollaka in the 21st James Bond film, Casino Royale.

In the trailer, you also see Sebastian Foucan going down a building doing Parkour. Finally, another movie with Parkour!

Diet / Re: Diet Soda?
« on: September 30, 2006, 11:39:23 AM »
But the thing is is that there's alot of controversy about aspertame, and other things. Not to mention the coincidence that happens to people when they intake alot of it into their bodies. And sugar is needed for your body to function properly, just not too much of it. In my opinion, a can of soda every few days isn't bad for you.

Quote from: Wikipedia
Aspartame has been the subject of a vigorous public controversy regarding its safety and the circumstances around its approval. Some studies have also recommended further investigation into connections between aspartame and diseases such as brain tumors, brain lesions, low sperm count and lymphoma. These findings, combined with notable conflicts of interest in the approval process, have engendered vocal activism regarding the possible risks of aspartame

My geography teacher also explained to the class about that, too. Good thig I really never had alot of diet sodas, or something like THAT would happen to me.

(No I am NOT paranoid, just cautious).

Diet sodas aren't really that good for you. Believe it or not, the non-diet ones are alot healthier than diet ones (surprised me, too). I just don't want to go into any detail as to why, but that's the truth. So when I drink soda, I drink the no-diet ones.

Just watch out for Aspartame.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons why.

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: traceur names
« on: September 28, 2006, 12:12:23 PM »
but it could just be that we all secretly want cooler names than our real ones...

That's why I kept my nickname. My friend called me FireFly because I kept on listening to this song called Firefly, and he said that should be my nickname (I didn't really like it, but it WAS better than my real name).

I'll try to get some as soon as possible. Just give me some time, I'll have some by the weekend. Besides, I have to wait for my mom to come back from vacation, since she has the camera.

Diet / Re: Flax Seed Capsules
« on: September 27, 2006, 04:06:50 PM »
I don't think it's a good idea to take any capsules, because you already get enough that you don't need any supplements (i.e. the capsules). The reason as to why your dad may take them is because he doesn't have enough Omega 3 in his body (or at least that's why my dad takes calcium supplements).

FAQ / A Bad Parkour Environment
« on: September 27, 2006, 01:23:22 PM »
This has been bugging me, ever since I moved. Around where I live now, there isn't much for parkour. I'm still an amateur, so I thought I would need more of simple obstacles (i.e. fences, short walls, etc). But because that I hardly have enough obstacles, I don't know what I could do to train.

And it's not only where I live, but almost EVERYWHERE here in this city. If you need me to, I could get some photos of the environment around here, so you could give me some tips. But what advice at the moment could you give me about this problem?

Pics & Vids / Re: HOLY CRAP HOW DO YOU NOT BREAK YOUR LEGS?!
« on: September 19, 2006, 11:06:00 AM »
Not only was the jump surprising to see, but the wall run was sick! Holy crap, I could only do like... 1 step on the wall, and he did like 4 or 5! Wow, I wish I could do that.

And I actually did jump something that high, or roughly close to it. I was freaking out when I did it, though, and yeah I really hurt my leg badly, but surprisingly I didn't break it. Wow, looks like God does love me afterall.

That would be cool, if only I don't chicken out on the backflip, because that's all I do whenever I want to do it. But once I get it, I'm trying that out. Good idea, Sat Santokh.
