For anyone who hasn't rolled on concrete yet, let me assure you, concrete hurts worse than grass, you will probably get quite a few bumps and bruises while you perfect rolling on differant terrain(gravel being pure murder) I got most of mine in while training in Akido, rolling is a major factor and you want to be sure you can do it at any moment.

It's really not that bad, if you can roll on grass from a fast run or from a medium landing without getting hurt, then just do the same thing on the concrete, it may hurt at first, but the pain makes you tough, and soon you wont even notice it. I am a skate board fool, I love manuals but I bail ALOT. Hell I kinda like the pain, it inspires you to do it right.

Just my thoughts. Don't EVER (I MEAN NEVER) hesitate or doubt your ability to do it, thats what keeps you from being fluid and relaxed.

Arkansas / Natural Moves

As Arkansas is the Natural State, its inevitable that doing Parkour in AR is going to involve elements of nature, my favorite would be using trees to gain access to the roofs. Also in any mountainous(sp?) area there are steep slopes interrupted with large boulders. If you havn't had a run through the wilderness, especially in the hills, then you are missing a beauty that can't be matched by the concrete jungle.

I happen to be a nature kinda guy(I live in Arkansas) if dirt,grass, freshwater streams, and boulders arent your thing, then Id love to change your mind.

There are very few areas where I live that have a good layout of obstacles for an ongoing run, I would have to hit 3 or 4 obstacles, then run 3 miles to hit 1 or 2 then run 3 miles to hit 3 or 4. That would leave me doing nothing but endurance running. I try to hit obstacles from every differant angle possible and in every possible varied combination. In short get as much as you can from every obstacle and as you increase in ability you will spot more of the unusual obstacles with an idea of how to incorporate them into your current lines of combos. This is a major concept in street skating, and is a major point for developing flow.
