Michigan / Beginner's Jam- Ann Arbor- Sat July 23
« on: July 12, 2011, 05:59:45 PM »
Copied from Aubrey's post on facebook:

Announcing: Beginner Jam Saturday July 23rd, 1pm, University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

This will be a jam oriented toward folks who are just starting out or have never tried parkour before. We'll be running a few clinics covering basic movements and visiting a number of the hotspots around Ann Arbor. This is a good opportunity for all those folks who joined the group, but haven't had the chance to actually come out yet.

The details are as follows:
We will be meeting at 1pm on Saturday the 23rd of July on the south side of the University of Michigan Dental School (you can use google maps or equivalent to find 1101 North University St, Ann Arbor, mi). We will go until everyone gets tired, which I expect will be around 5. Bring comfortable clothes and athletic shoes. Water is probably a good idea too.

hah yes, i remember. we made the google site even longer ago than that and apparently it's still used. still would like to improve it.. just never had the time or the urgency to make time for it with a lot of other things going on. I was also intending on having something as the club's website, but that's another discussion

I won't be healed by then, but I may still go. If so, I might be interested in a ride and also if I go people can crash at my place in MD. There's some other ann arbor guys that have interest in going too, but nothing definite

eh.. i don't think people in the club get anything out of the fb page since we have a mailing list and most everything is word of mouth for us anyway. and it seems the fb page has sort have become the state of michigan's parkour website (looks more popular than here and the google site).  I'd say its not worth changing/making a new group to clear things up at least on fb since people dont appear to even read the description. I'd say our efforts should be spent in making/improving a unified site that can be linked to facebook. I may be able to work on this in my free time once i'm done with school.

Hey Bryan, welcome back!

Where in Michigan are you located? There are groups scattered throughout the state.. you can browse through the forum to see if anyone has posted up about training in your region or add it to the title of this one

If you're near Ann Arbor you are more than welcome to come to the UofM Parkour club training sessions that we have Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

It depends on the date but I likely won't be in Michigan for this after all :(

One of the bigger concerns I have for hosting it in Ann Arbor is the housing (since we'd potentially have to house more people than the MIPK jam).

I'll bring this up at training/send out an email as well..

it will still be at UofM and it will still be near the end of september again but probably not the exact same days. We'll announce it we we finalize a date

well first of all you've got the codewords all wrong.. it's banana, mango, and coconut. i've coconut heard of apples and oranges.  you have banana already and mission mango is the other hint i will give you  :P

See if we can borrow the "Big House"...
haha that actually *might* be possible. at least for warming up.

adding posting on the forum to the rules eh?

it's pretty likely we'd be able to handle it. i guess i'd just have to see what locals (myself included) would be able to be around for it. and if people are interested in coming to Ann Arbor, of course.

Cloud and I had talked a little about Ann Arbor, Michigan hosting it since our jam is later in the year when most people aren't able to make it.

The roof tops are a option but not everyone in town likes us on there. We can talk about what each of us are able to do and show off as much as possible.
i really hope this is  :-Sarcasm

you give a lot of irrelevant detail and almost no important information such as specific days/times and no specific adresses or anything.

One of the guys in our club, Forrest, is from there. He will probably be back there during winter and summer breaks. I dont believe he's a member on APK but if you're interested and hes okay with it i'll put him in contact with you

Michigan / Winter Hibernation
« on: December 15, 2010, 12:02:19 AM »
I know it's winter now but it's been a while since there's been any activity on here and i thought i should check to make sure everyone's still alive   :-Sarcasm

So a little update for us in Ann Arbor: we finally moved training indoors to the chem building, though we may venture out to some parking structures now and then. Starting next semester we're gonna make tuesdays conditioning/ strength training days. Thursdays and Sundays regular training, and now every other Saturday we are hoping to get into a gym in Brighton.  ;D

oh and we might actually put something on our site eventually. will share when do
