Title: Parkour & Joint Health
Post by: John on October 04, 2012, 09:10:07 AM
Hopefully this is the right place for this question.

I am pushing 40 and in decent shape, and am really interested in Parkour, not so much to perform stunts as for purposes of total body fitness.

My concern is whether or not I can practice parkour without a negative impact on my joints.

It can absolutely have a negative impact on your joints--it can also have a positive effect. The key is how you train. The important thing is to start small and stay small, as long as necessary! Check out the youtube video "titanium ankles" to get an idea of joint strengthening. From there maybe check out Amos's youtube channel- Ukemi...? Check Apex Movement's facebook if you can't find it.

Good Luck!

Well first of all(not being rude :P) parkour is not stunts and if you progress right then parkour can not have a negative impact on joints.
