Title: 10 push ups
Post by: Mark Toorock on February 27, 2011, 06:31:04 PM
I have been inspired. Some people have "10 push ups" in their sig, meaning that for every post they make on here they do 10 push ups. This is deeper than I can describe. Do it.
Doing my 10 now.

Thanks to a-SkyfiOriginal for creating this banner -

Now you all can have large pecs like me! Seriously... You have no idea how many bra comments I've heard... And some of my cousins like to touch them... "They're big... But so hard..." If you guys commit to the 10 push-ups, be prepared for this.

Could you put "No Knees" under the pushup-ers body for me? (so, the N would start by his left hand)

I'll start doing this when my groin pull heals.

I was thinking this as well a little while ago. Except I think it should be anything that you're doing that's fun, but not really helping you out. I just posted a couple times on facebook, 20 pushups. I watched a show on TV, another 10. I'm sure you get the point.

Remember everyone, keep it quick, simple and possible to do shortly within the time of posting. If it gets too crazy, we'll add it up until we're home and that runs the risk of not doing them.

Alternatives for difficulty: Clapping PU's, X PU's, Superman PU's, Toe-Touch PU's

I saw this post so I added to my APK posts.

Then I added it to our facebook chat for PKZU group, modified. We do 10 for a post and assign 10 for someone else.

We also play the game over text messages. Usually the number is higher in the text (20-30 ect)

We also play the apples and oranges game during training, 10 push-ups for saying negative words

all together it equals a lot of push-ups.

Your body will adapt if you do the same exercises, especially if you are doing the same sets of the same amount of reps week after week. If this is some idea to try and get us into better shape, it won't work so well, as nothing is going to be gained form doing the same thing. How about 1 week you do 10 pushups every post, the next week pullups, the next week do 20 crunches every post, next week 20 squats, next week 15 DB curls, etc. You get the point. Mix it up a bit, make it challenging, that's what will get you to your fitness goals.

You have a good point, mixing it up after a while is a good idea.
But also to bring out, this would be true if this was the only exercise you were doing and you can already do them perfectly well. However if you cant do many or full push ups (no knees) then this will help you as well. If you can do 10 push ups no problem without feeling anything, then it won't help you so much, so you would need to increase the amount, or up the intensity weather it be more reps, weights, or your back, inclined, and the many other ways. I need to improve training my pull ups, so i add pull ups to my routine.

Once its to easy, bring the intensity. It would be like someone who can barley press 20lb. If they keep trying it on a regular basis is will become easier, but once its to easy, feel no struggle, they would want to increase the weight on the bar to keep increasing their strength.

But, its also fun to punish yourself with workouts :P

This is a punishment supplement to workouts.
Day 1 I did 150 push-ups between our push-up games. My general workout for the day was 3x5 clean jerk, 3x5 dead lift and 17,11,7 bench press.
Day 2 I did 70 push-ups between our push-up games. My general workout was 4x5 "the bears" and 3x5 weighted pull-ups.

If this is your only work out then yes you should change it up weekly but if you are working out on a regular basis this is a fun game to supplement.

It did hinder my bench workout but I'm sore and it feels great.

I would say that this is less of a workout for our bodies and more for our minds. If we consistently do our PU's after a post, we're consciously thinking about the post. How often do we train compared to how much we post on here and other networks?

Did my 10.

Also, I'm terrible at pushups, I have trouble doing 5 in a row with no knees (hence the "No knees" in sig, both for myself and other weaklings)

But I can do my rounds of the forums and do 10 for every post, by that time I'll be proficient enough to try one-leg or one-arm pushups.

I started doing 10 pull ups yesterday.

I find it much more fun and challenging.

I think I may try this.

But I feel like I should do push ups instead to improve my chest more ? :P

Either way, +10

I would say that this is less of a workout for our bodies and more for our minds. If we consistently do our PU's after a post, we're consciously thinking about the post. How often do we train compared to how much we post on here and other networks?

Did my 10.

Indeed. Maybe this is the Admin's long sought after solution to the new Stop the BullSh*t campaign.

I'm gonna start counting my posts and start doing this.
This sounds like fun and a good way to keep myself in a conditioning set of mind.

this would be true if this was the only exercise you were doing and you can already do them perfectly well. However if you cant do many or full push ups (no knees) then this will help you as well. If you can do 10 push ups no problem without feeling anything, then it won't help you so much, so you would need to increase the amount, or up the intensity weather it be more reps, weights, or your back, inclined, and the many other ways.
10 planche pushups every post? OW! If I could pull of 10 planche pushups, I so would. XD

This is a FANTASTIC idea!!!
Will start immediately!

P.S. Was watching Tosh.0 and he presented the idea of Piss-Ups!
In other words, every time you take a piss, do 10 push-ups!!!

I'm doing 10 for this post and 10 for my next piss. ;D

Who thinks this is a good idea? ???

Yeah that's the whole point. It's a great idea to help people get of their butts and start training. Also to keep you active while not training.  ;)

Surely none of you have a reason to quote this. You're arms must be tired enough already.

But seriously, this is a great idea, as I said before.

I do think I'll be incorporating this with other things since I do not post a lot on here. Maybe 10 pull-ups for every facebook status I make? Who knows!

I got an app on my phone that keeps track of how many times you touch the screen so everytime I do a push up I hit it with my nose.  So Now I don't have to keep track in my head. ;D

My groin is almost completely healed, I'm at the point where I can do pushups without aggravating it.

So yeah, I'll go do my 10.
