« on: April 13, 2008, 07:44:38 PM »
"On the weekend of May 24th and 25th a six-strong team from Parkour Generations will be running open training days in Columbus, Ohio in the United States. In conjunction with the Ohio State University parkour community, managed by Parkour Horizons, these training sessions will be free to attend and are open to any and all who want to learn. Once again Julie Angel will be present to capture the proceedings. Kazuma, Forrest, Stephane, Dan and Johann will also be there for some linked events on the 22nd and 23rd of May, before the training days commence, and it promises to be a momentous few days which we are very much looking forward to. As far as I know the Beast Coast wasn't confirmed yet, but then again, I've been out of touch with the news on the forums lately because I've been working two jobs and being a single daddy on top of that. Hope to see you here though ;)

trying to think of ways I could get to Ohio...

Beast Coast has always (up till now) fallen on Memorial Day Weekend.. however, that might have to change, now.

I'll do my best to come.  No promises, because it's during a time when I'll be settling into a new job and might not be able to take any time off, or find the money.

Fox or Aladdin--
I want to go!

This sounds like a great reason to quit my job! I'LL NEVER MISS FREE SHOES AGAIN! I was going to quit at the end of May anyway. :)

;D LOL that's the spirit Tanya.

You won't be the only female there either (I am assuming you are a girl because of the name so forgive me if I'm wrong). Anna Kaczka from New Jersey is coming and a few other ladies have confirmed as well. Don't forget to mention, Julie Angel will be there. She is really cool!

I should definitely be able to attend but It'd be awesome if a local would be kind enough to host me, as of now that is the make or break factor for me.

What airport would be best for me to fly into?

zujitsu,
The reason why we're forwarding you to Nick is because we've posted up this announcement on all the parkour forums we could so instead of trying to monitor all of these forums we're trying to forward everyone to a central location (parkourhorizons.com) where we can update everyone from there. We feel this will be the best way to get out information to a lot of people and to make sure the information being put out is controlled and concrete to make sure there as few misunderstandings and miscommunications as possible.  We certainly don't want anyone not being prepared or prevented from having a great time because of a simple mix up or because someone reported something wrong or poorly on the forums!  The website is not up yet, but is should be by late this week or early next week and it will have details of all the events, seminars, accommodations, etc.  To try and role it out as soon as possible we will be concentrating on handling the most pertinent information for travelers first (like locations, airports, places to stay, etc) to make sure everyone can get here.

However, to answer your question for the time being.  Yes, there will most definitely be places to stay for free.  We will share what space we have at our places and we will make camping areas available and close, and refer people to nearby hotels.  So, please hang tight as we get the details worked out -- we will do our best to take care of everyone and host a great event!  Our goal is to help spread the word that Parkour Generations is coming so that they can better share their knowledge to as many people as possible and by doing so making the most out of their trip by benefiting the maximum amount of communities and individuals interested in parkour.

Also, just FYI, the main purpose of the flier at the top of this thread was just to get the word out so people would have enough time to start clearing their schedule and get thinking about travel arrangements.

I hope that helps.  :-)
