i dont mean to sound like an ass, but the best tip i ever got was to stop reading all these online tips, and just go outside and find whats best for me... good luck with your site though.

Why not help out APK? We aim to help newbs, and everyon'es contributions to that are greatly appreciated!!

If you are going to make your own site:

Safety
Education
Movement (really above education, but at least tell people what Parkour is first :P )

I agree with Manilla, i read some of the online stuff just to get an idea of what i was doing, but I learned the most by going out and experimenting. Heck i'm still figuring out new things just by going out and doing it ;)

Well then if they don't know what to do they won't be able to go out and do it so in my opinion :-\ (alternate to the sarcasm smiley) those online tips or moral tips are very important for noobs, wouldn't you say. Most or almost all people who do Parkour have had tips of some sort because they wouldn't even know what they are doing.

I think what is going on here is this:
People learn in different ways.
There is no one perfect solution for getting across "what is Parkour" to everyone, and each person will need a little differnet of a mix of "go out and do it" and "here's something (movement) you can try for starters" and "Here's something to consider (description, thought process).

I don't think you can really learn what Parkour is without #1 and #3. I do think you could learn it without any help on #2, some people say "just get over that railing as fast as possible" .. but I think MOST people need a little more guidance than that.
Be Useful.

this would only work with close friends
Just run up to them, pretend to mug them, then make sure they chase you(if they are chasing you they are not calling the cops) then let them catch you, take off the ski mask, and relate it to parkour.
i repeat this will only work with close friedns

personally i beleive this is a good thing. i mean i have been looking for good vids on certain moves and i have come up empty. i do agree that there should be an explanation on what parkour is.
Parkour isn't a sport, it's a way of life...

I'm gonna try that, except with my fellow traceurs  :D, that should prove to be a fun way to train :)
