You've got a valid point there. Kinda the same here i've been watching a bunch of vids and looking up some tutorials on the APK website and then just go out in my neighborhood and train.

Why? Parkour is not about jumping off buildings.

I get a little dizzy (like when you hang upside down for a while) when I practice rolls. With blood rushing into the head and back and all those. Is that normal? will it feel better after a lot of practice. Has anybody felt the same.

I remember once when I did a bungee jump, my face turned so red and the little veins in my eyes almost burst, (felt and looked that way) I looked like a monster.. my eyes looked red as rubies ,people had asked me if i was drinking on the way up for the Jump..? is it just me..

Personally I think Ryan Doyles Parkour Roll Tutorial (on Youtube)would be very helpful for a lot of us beginners.

honestly i neveer focused on this kind of stuff... i never watched youtube videos or knew what any of the vaults and moves were called, I just kinda did it.  So my advice is, learn whatever you can... it doesnt matter if you know what the names of things are called, what matters is that you can do a certain move when you need to.  So just train on whatever you've got, and start experimenting with what your body can do!

yeah dude Parkour is not about jumping off of buildings, in fact you can be an expert and not jumped off of a building the entrie time, I mean is jumping off the building getting you anywhere faster?

Parkour may not be solely about jumping off of buildings, but drops are a part of the discipline and its something you do have to learn eventually. You might have to jump from a high place sometime, it happens.

..I feel like a moron for asking, but you guys keep mentioning to learn your rolls, does this mean like the rolly-polly rolls? (Tucking yourself in a ball and rolling across the ground.) or something else?  Same with the landing? Just plain learning to land on your feet from distances or?

they mean rolling, like doing a summersault. its easy to do, but doing it on hard surfaces can get you hurt if you don't do it right.

I am as far as possible from an expert, barely a beginner but I have started just doing some basic rolls and balancing in my home. I took a motorcycle class last summer. One of the best things they did was to drill us on brake, clutch, downshift until it became muscle memory. I am looking at rolls the same way. Repetition and focus on form is necessary to get your body to respond when it counts.

Practice landing and rolls, I started practicing parkour at least 3 months ago and I. Havnt gotton the roll perfect. I also started out with easy vaults, such as the lazy and simple.

Videos rarely show how people get to that point, and it's important to think about the different steps and progressions that go into learning things for the first time.

This is exactly what I hope to achieve with my website http://www.actiontutorials.com. I'm not new to higher forms of movement, but I am new to Parkour. I plan to keep all my progress vids archived and eventually write up a basic progression for learning. Come visit it guys!
