building an obstacle course
« on: July 31, 2007, 08:23:01 AM »
So my crew and I had a little incident with the police yesterday while doing Parkour in our home town.  It all turned out ok in the end probably because we were very cooperative and polite.  We're from Menomonie which is a very small town with a large college campus that actually works great for training.  However, the police are extremely conservative and people tend to be very closed minded around here.  They threatened to send me to jail (mainly because I'm the oldest member of our crew) and they almost gave all of us trespassing tickets ($270 a piece).  Afterwards we got to thinking we could buy a lot of lumber and rails for the price of just a couple of those tickets...so that's what we're going to do.  My parents have 10 acres of land kind of out in the middle of nowhere up here and we're goint to start building what we can for an obstacle course/training area.  We'll have walls, boxes, rails, vaulting areas, climbing areas, jumping areas, ropes, trees, and anything else we can think of to help training.  If anyone has any good ideas on what we should put in there or any good ideas for how to raise money for it, please let me know.  We're probably going to start building it some time this week, but it's going to take a long time I'm sure.  Once it's done I'd like it to be an open area for anyone who wants to train there.

Figure I'll let you guys all know about this too, I've got some pics up on my photo album on APK of what we've done so far with the course.  Take a look and let me know what you think!
