Standing Full Help?
« on: December 15, 2011, 09:21:14 PM »
So, with my standing tumbling, right now I'm working on my full. I set like crazy, so i have the height. But... the pull/"tightness" never work out. I can post a video if need be, currently i do not have one though >_< But here's what I can tell you:
Good set.
No fear.
So?
I do a half, or an arabian, and open up instead of staying tight and pulling the full way through. How do you stay tight? I go up, i pull, but can't make it past that half way mark, i always do a half! Even when spotted. It's ridiculous. How do you use your hips, in a full? That's one thing my couch told me to do, buti just don't get it. And i try not to open up, but i Always do -__-

Should i just do some pulling/twisting drills to put that motion in mind?
Also, would some leg conditioning help at all?
Anyway. Thanks in advance. Sorry for no video yet.

can you round off full easily, try standing round off full, and standing back handsrping to full if you haven't done that yet
I like Tricking and Free Running, i don't think i actually do parkour, because i do it for fun and self expression, which would change the term to free running.

I already see hate coming my way for this one :P, but, no i have not. With running tumbling, I'm working on my layout. I have them... but i don't. Lol i don't always set, which screws me up >__< But, I'm also one that likes standing tumbling over running. My standing is easier and better than runing, for me. And less scary (granted nothing has really been all that scary yet :P)

I also just realized you said all that from standing :P But. With those kinda things, I'm doing layouts :P

well by standing round off, you can take like 1-2 steps into it, or walk into it i guess

you should learn round off full on a tumble track, or you can try standing fulls on a trampoline, then decrease your bounce until you you can jump as high as you are bouncing

I am sorry for not being so clear/specific :P
Anything that has multiple skills, I'm working on my layout for that :P Like. Round off layout. Round off handspring layout. Standing handspring layout. Make sense? With single skill standing tumbling, I'm work on my standing full. It's on the trampoline. With no bounce. It's only from the trampoline because we hve A foam pad for landing. But, with AND without a spot, i can't get passed that half way mark :/
But, i can't tumble on the tumble track, that's what's scary as hell for me Dx >_< Haha.
Should i try it on ground with a spot, cause i feel like that would teach me much better how to go all the way?

I actually got my standing full last saturday.  How did I do it?  I yelled "STANDING FULL" and did it.  But its because I have my running round off full and double fulls good, so it wasnt too much of a problem for me.

Haha, well, congrats! :)
See, standing tumbling, for me, is easier and less scary :/ So i work more on that than running tumbling :P But i can't wait for my fulls/doubles/kick single/kick double fulls :3

i usually just round off into my stuff, i don't care too much for back handsprings,
also, doing a jstep cork is easier than a standing full and looks better anyways, and doesn't take up much space at all.
I like Tricking and Free Running, i don't think i actually do parkour, because i do it for fun and self expression, which would change the term to free running.

but, on the plus side: i got my layout Sunday! Bad side: gym is closed till January -.-
I haven't tried any kinda J-Step stuff yet. It's so scary >_< lol What should i start with? J-Step Gainer? Or just go straight to Cork? xD

to use your hips in a twist, try driving your knee across.  It will make you bend your legs a bit which isn't good for doubles, but you'll get used to twisting enough by then

have a nice day
