Dude, I watched your video 'Taste of Loneliness.'
I am thoroughly impressed!

Ditto, really good. If I get rained out tomorrow I'll watch some more.
When school and finals are over I want to do a short film (8-12 minute kinda thing) For now I just do weekly sketches.

I'm saving up for an HD camera this summer, and I plan to get into film-making.
I already have about three scripts completed. :P

That's awesome man, way to put in the work! I love telling stories and making films, but it always takes me a long time to actually sit down and write and flesh my ideas out, to be honest haha. Guess I'm just lazy in that department... But then once I get done with all the pre-production stuff and get onto filming and finally editing and seeing the finished product, there is no better feeling to me than seeing my vision realized on the screen  ;D
But yeah, can't wait to see what you produce! By the way, what camera do you plan on getting? If you need any help deciding, just ask. I've used all different kinds of cameras from all the major companies so I'd be glad to help out since there are some cameras that sound nice, but DEFINITELY not worth it...

Or you could do both?  :P Haha, yeah I'd appreciate it man  :)
Yeah, I watched a couple, just keep it up and just like parkour, learn from every single mistake you make and always ask for criticism and focus on what you could do better with your next project. And if you have an idea for one 8-12 minutes long, then just do it! Good luck

I have no freaking idea what to choose, I just looked at wal-mart cameras and went "Hey, that looks good." Don't even know the name or model of the one I liked the most.

So: I have zero knowledge about cameras, let alone editing software.

Goals:
1: Cheap, but good quality HD camera with good sound recording.
2: An editing software that I can freaking understand.

I love you man, haha. I HATE Apple products and everyone around me and all those who make films thinks that you need a stupid Mac or Apple products in order to make good videos and films and stuff. I've used both macs and pcs for making videos and FCP always screws up my projects  >:(

Anyways, if you can, get the model number and info next time you go to walmart and I'll take a look at it online and let you know if its worth it.

As for programs, you could always download the trial version of adobe's production premium package on Adobe's site then keep downloading the trial to use it over and over. That's what I did. I downloaded the 30 day trial, and for some reason it stayed after the 30 days so I just ended up getting a keygen generator off my friend and now I have the full version. You can do this til you get enough money to buy "Adobe's Production Premium"

Oh and your goal of having good audio quality is not gonna happen. ALL mics on cameras suck, and if you ever want good sound, you'll have to buy an external mic and plug it in. Or if you don't have the money for that, you'll have to re-dub the voicework and do a whole lot of sound mixing while editing. That's what I've been doing for years and it works good if you practice at it...

Basing my opinion on people I've come across. Mostly all the people get Macs that I've known is because they don't know WTF they're doing when it comes to computer specs.

Exactly and they all try to tell me how much better Macs are at stuff and once I prove them wrong they get all defensive and just start spewing off the stuff they see on the commercials without even knowing what they're talking about. Macs are the hipsters new toys. They just wanna be "cool" so they buy a Mac...

But I'm proud to be the only filmmaker I know who still uses a PC  ;D

Which is why i have a computer with a version of all of these operating systems.  :D

ITchick, programmer, and my favorite graphic artist. Thank you school.

--------------------------

But don't hate on macs/make a generalization. My custom built PC has a hard time opening some of my larger GD files and has made it shut down a few times. (edit: cause I'm still fixing my graphics card) I <3 my mac.

For linux users you should try an OS called Backtrack, took my hacking class with it.

Also, Mac OS is based off of a Unix core, if you can get your OS crack right, there is a lot of fun to be had.
