Letter To Little Wayne
« on: March 07, 2011, 07:00:06 PM »
Just thought that this needed to be posted.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-T-FVR0WZw&feature=aso

I know, some of you my not like rap. But Lil Wayne has some good tracks, but in those tracks...he talks about woman in a degrading way, like most rappers. Someone needed to say something, and saying something to him...is saying something to them all. I give props to these girls.

its freedom of speech protected by the first amendment so if someone wants to degrade women in a song its their right, America is just too stuck up and gets butt hurt at everything, I don't like it either but its his right so people just really need to stop their bitch'n. also his songs arent for little kids thats why it says parental advisory on it so yeah its the parents problem.

I never said he couldn't do it, and neither did the girls. We all know its freedom of speech, we all know that its his right to say what he wants; girls/woman want to be respected. That is all the girls want.

I typically don't complain about stuff unless I have a course of action to correct it. I don't have kids of my own and I am not in a position to affect his influence. I already don't listen to him already and express my disdain for him to my friends when he comes up, both as an artist/entertainer and a person.

Nevertheless, I agree with you guys.

I know he should not be prevented by law to do what he does. He SHOULD be prevented to do what he does by the high morals and standards/expectations of the populace. The later is what I hope to influence, not the former.

I agree totally.  This is where capitalism is really a great reflection of the will of the populace.  If people had a big enough issue with what was being said (and how I wish this were the case), then there would be no market for writing songs that were degrading to anyone.  The problem is that such music has a huge market, primarily because people don't care enough to stop buying the music.  To make a difference the flow of money into what is essentially a market engineered towards a certain social group would have to be cut off.

Question: Same way we allow the media to survive? News is minimally informational nowadays, imo. There is hardly any reporting.

As Macklemore says, "follow the formula: violence, drugs, and sex sells." Should I continue this thought or is it derailing the thread? lol

I agree with you guys but here is how i see it:

Rappers: dont give a f*uck
Rappers: Make good but dirty music
The people: buy dirty music.
The people: dont care what the lyrics are as long as their catchy.
The "Better than this" people: cant do anything about it.
Me: Dont care.

Lil Wayne cant rap anyways.
You cant understand him half the time because hes always on drugs, and when you can hear him,it sounds like complete garbage.
I completely disregard anything he says as complete BS.

Saying he can't rap is an opinion no like some people don't like the way people sing. I personally think he has a unique voice because all of the drugs . etc. But yes as I said before no one cares about the lyrics . They just wanna dance to catchy songs , which is one thing he has provided.

I think he can. He has potential to make some good songs, which he has. Just listen to the lyrics on his song 3 Peat.

IMHO, Lil Wayne has repetitive punchlines,he consistently raps about the same things.
I will give it to him though, his old music is alot better than the crap he puts out now,but still way overated.

                                                                                                                   My Life
This is one of my faves. Even though The Game has most of the song down pat with his inspiring words, Wayne has a good hood I'm going to point out.

"Dear Lord you've took so many of my people, I'm just wondering why you haven't taking my life? Like what the hell am I doing, right?"

                                                                                                               Tie My Hands
I mean, come on...this is one of his best songs. The whole song is good. Listen to the lyrics.

Robin Thicke:
we are at war
with the universe
the sky is falling
and the only thing that can save us now
is sensitivity
and compassion
(da da da dadada da da da x2)
but i know one thing is for sure
i'm gonna get my kicks before it all burns down

Lil Wayne:
yeah, some say tragedies is hard to get over
but sometime that tragedy means its over
soldier, from the academy legal frolers
i deny being down though they seen the holers
my shoulders are strong i prove them wrong
i aint doing nothing but moving on
let the truth be known
but they talk that freedom matters and didn't even leave a latter
damn

Robin Thicke:
i work at the corner store we all got problems, problems
who was gon' fight alone
no one's gonna save us now
how you feel you're not alone
we're all just jealous, jealous
we don't reach the sky no more
we jus can't overcome, no
you tie my hands
what am i gonna be
what have i done so bad
what is my destiny
you tie my hands
what am i s'posed to see
what have i done so bad
what am i gonna be

Lil wayne:
i knock on the door
hope isnt home
faith's not around the luck's all gone
dont ask me whats wrong
ask me whats right
and i'ma tell you whats life
and did you know
i lost everything but i ain't the only one
first came the hurricane then the morning sun
excuse me if i'm on one and dont trip if i light one
i walk a tight one
they try tell me keep my eyes open
my whole city under water some ppl still floatin'
and they wonder why black ppl still voting
Cuz your president still chokin
take away the football team the basketball team
now all we got is me to represent New Orleans.
no governor, no help from the mayor
jus a steady beatin heart and a wish and a prayer
let's pray
Robin Thicke:
these friends they come and go
but i got family, family
these kids so fast they grow they learn so quickly now
that there's no where to go that there's no future, future
dont make the seem so low
and we can't overcome now.
tie my hands
what are we gonna be
what have i done so bad
what is my destiny
you tie my hands
what am i s'posed to see
what have i done so bad
what am i gonna be

Lil Wayne:
and if you come from under that water, then that's fresh air
just breathe baby God's got a blessing to spare
yes i know the process is so much stress
but its the progress that feels the best
Cuz i came from the projects straight to success
and you're next so try
they can't steal your pride its inside.
then find it and keep on grinding
Cuz in every dark cloud theres a silver lining, i know.

spoken*: yeah yeah yeah.
see, right now we jus ridin on love
a shinin dark
we aint tryin'a do nothing but be at the heart.
we need love
that's all

Robin Thicke:
love will come,
tie my hands
what am i gonna be
what have i done so bad
what is my destiny
tell you, tie my hands
what am i s'posed to see
what have i done so bad
what am i gonna be

Lil wayne *spoken:
born right here in the usa but due to tragedey
looked on, by the whole world as a refugee
so accept my emotion do not take it as an offensive gesture
its just the epitomy of my soul
and i must be me
we got spirit y'all
we got spirit
we got soul y'all
we got soul
they don't want us to see
but we already know

                                                                                                          Pray to the Lord
                                                                                                          Self explanatory.

[Chorus: x2]
Before I Sleep I Pray To The Lord
My Soul To Keep
And If I Should Die
Before I Wake
I Pray To The Lord
My Soul To Take
For Goodness Sake

Yeah I Wrote My Will Just The Other Week
And What's Funny, It Was Only One Sheet
And I Know It's Only One Me
But I Hope I Am Everything My Son Be
I'm Trying To Live Right, Stay On That Drum Beat
But I'm In The Fast Lane, In The Front Seat
I Wonder Will I Loose Control Of The Mazarati And Hit Some Tree Just Being
Young Me
Is There A Heaven For G's And Soldiers? I Can't Go To Hell, Cause I'm a Take Over
I Feel It Approaching, But I Ain't Scared
I Made That Bed, And I Should Rest In Peace

[Chorus: x2]
Before I Sleep I Pray To The Lord
My Soul To Keep
And If I Should Die
Before I Wake
I Pray To The Lord
My Soul To Take
For Goodness Sake

Yeah And Everytime I See The Sunshine
I Drop Down And Give Thanks At Least One Time
Feellin Like I'm Living On The Front Line
I'm Feeling Like Every Second Is Crunch Time
I've Had Breakfast, Will I Make It To Lunchtime?
And I Ain't Joking, So Don't Be Looking For Punchlines
Will I Be The Next Victim Of A Gun Crime
I Don't Know The Answer, That's Why I Brung Mine
Riding By Myself Late At Night
Pistol On My Lap At Every Single Red Light
Yeah I Made My Bed Right, So When I Do I Should Sleep Tight
In Peace I Rest

[Chorus: x2]
Before I Sleep I Pray To The Lord
A Soul To Keep
And If I Should Die
Before I Wake
I Pray To The Lord
My Soul To Take
For Goodness Sake

Bury Me A Gangster Cause That's What I Live
Don't Cry For Me I Gave The Best I Could Give
I Can Only Do Me, So That's What I Did
And I Cherish Every Breath Of My Kid
And I Don't Wanna Go Before She Grow, That Ain't Cool
But In This Game Of Life I Don't Make The Rules
Shit, So That's Why I Get Twisted
So I Can't Feel It When It Hits Me
And My Moms Don't Need That On Her
But I See Death Around The Corner
And If He, So Happens To Make His Way Around The Block
You Gotta Answer The Door When He Knock
Believe That

[Chorus: x2]
Before I Sleep I Pray To The Lord
A Soul To Keep
And If I Should Die
Before I Wake
I Pray To The Lord
My Soul To Take
For Goodness Sake

                                                                                                                  Misunderstood
[Lil Wayne]
He talks about Hurricane Katrina. About how he strives to do better, he knows he isn't perfect, he knows that he needs to do better and that he WANTS to do better, that oughtta be enough. Just listen, you'll get it.
Misunderstood ain't gotta be explained
But you don't understand me so let me explain
Stood in the heat, the flames, the snow
Please slow down hurricane
The wind blow, my dreads swang
He had hair like wool, like Wayne
Dropping ashes in the bible
I shake em out and they fall on the rifle
Scary, hailmary no tale fairy
All real very, extraordinary
Perry mason facing, the barrel if he tattle
My God is my judge, no gown no gavel
I'm a rebel, down to battle
Now or never, I would never ???
f#cking fantastic, f#ck if you agree
But I don't give a f#ck if you see me

[Nina Simone]
I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh lord please don't let me be misunderstood

[Lil Wayne]
What's understood ain't gotta be explained
So for those who understand meet Dwayne
For 8 and a half months I gave Ms. Cita pain
Now it's young money baby, keep the change
My mama say f#ck em and we the same
So hello motherf#cker you got some sheets to change
And ain't it funny how people change like easter Sunday
You know church fit then outfit
Bright pink and green chest look house lit
Bright pinky rings but that ain't about this
What you bout bitch
Excuse my French emotion in my passion
But I wear my heart on my sleeve like it's the new fashion
What are you asking, if I don't have the answer
It's probably on the web, like I'm a damn tarantula
But I know you don't understand, cuz you thought Lil Wayne is weezy
But weezy is DWayne

[Nina Simone]
I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh lord please don't let me be misunderstood

[Outro]
I was watching t.v. the other day right
Got this white guy up there talking about black guys
Talking about how young black guys are targeted
Targeted by who? America
You see one in every 100 Americans are locked up
One in every 9 black Americans are locked up
And see what the white guy was trying to stress was that
The money we spend on sending a motherf#cker to jail
A young motherf#cker to jail
Would be less to send his or her young ass to college
See, and another thing the white guy was stressing was that
Our jails are populated with drug dealers, you know crack/cocaine stuff like that
Meaning due to the laws we have on crack/cocaine and regular cocaine
Police are only, I don't want to say only right, but shit
Only logic by riding around in the hood all day
And not in the suburbs
Because crack cocaine is mostly found in the hood
And you know the other thing is mostly found in you know where I'm going
But why bring a motherf#cker to jail if it's not gonna stand up in court
Cuz this drug ain't that drug, you know level 3, level 4 drug, shit like that
I guess it's all a misunderstanding
I sit back and think, you know us young motherf#ckers you know that 1 in 9
We probably only selling the crack cocaine because we in the hood
And it's not like in the suburbs, we don't have what you have
Why? I really don't wanna know the answer
I guess we just misunderstood huh
You know we don't have room in the jail now
For the real motherf#ckers, the real criminals
Sex offenders, rapists serial killers
Don't get scared, don't get scared
I know you saw one them sex offenders papers
Don't trip he live right on the end of yo block
Mhm yea, that nigga live right down the street from you
Sex offender on the level 3 drug
Convicted ex-con
Yea check em out
Watch you got, you got a daughter, son, what you got?
Haha yea, you know what
That's the good weed
You know what, I have a f#cking daughter
You understand me and why the f#ck would you bring my neighbor to jail
Just because the reason why he live next door to me
Ain't the reason I live next door to him
Meaning he didn't rap his way to my f#cking neighborhood
He sold crack cocaine to get to my neighborhood
You move him out bring him to jail for life
And then you move in with a sex offender
Ahaha, hey give me a paper
Ahaha is that a misunderstanding because I didn't understand it
Another thing, let me take my glasses off
Cause I wanna see the reaction on there faces when I say this
Ha-ha, uh Mr. Al Sharpton
Here is why I don't respect you and nobody like ya
See you're the type that gets off on getting on other people
That's not good, no homo
Rather unhuman, I should say
I mean giving the fact that humanity were a good humanity
Rather to me is helping one another
No matter your color or race
But this guy and people like him, they?d rather speculated before they inflamate
If that's a word, ha-hahaha you know spec before check
Anyways meaning id much rather
You talk to me first and see if you can lend an opinion before you link one
Just my thought of good humanity Mr. Sharpton
Hold on I ain't finished with you man
Na f#ck that shit Mhm hold on, um
Mr. Sharpton and anyone like you, you don't know me
So if your not going to try to then what you say or think about me
Are what ever I do is totally Casper the friendly ghost
To me and it doesn?t make you a good person to criticize before you improvise
Doesn?t
Necessarily make you a bad person either but the characteristics for
Heavenly into bads way, ahaha but since I am human I am good and bad, as
Well but I try my hardest to stay good
Threes other things I do and say may be bad or just not to good
But I do try, so with that said I don't vote you, I mean your only human, good or bad
But I also don't respect you and I don't care if that's good or bad
You
See you are no MLK you are no Jesse Jackson, you are nobody, to me
Your just another Don King, with a perm, hahaha just a little more
Political, and that just means you're a little unhuman
Than us humans, and now let me be human by saying
f#ck Al Sharpton and anyone like him
f#ck if you understand me
I love being misunderstood
Haha why?
Cause I live in the suburbs
But I come from the hood
Bring the hook in

                                                                                                                       3Peat

"Two more inches idda been in dat casket, according to the docter I could've died in traffic"

"And momma don't cry, your son can handle his, I got her out the hood, and put her in the hills"

"When I's fourteen I told my mom we would see better days, and sure enough I got to see her in a better place. When I's fourteen I told my mom we would see better days, and sure enough, we did exactly what I say"

Believe me when I say Ive listened to alot of Lil Wayne, and he has his meaningful songs, but he is fake, everything he raps about that he claims hes done,or he says is true,is almost all BS.
For example,Hes a blood right?
Why did he make a song when he was younger about Carolina blue?If your a true blood, you arennt going to model a whole song arounnd the color blue. Also Birdman is a supposed blood and he throws his red flag on the ground in a video.Lil Wayne is a joke,IMO.

I do like his meaningful songs, I will say that but his other ones (depending) I don't care for.

Great post Josh.
