a good definition of parkour?
« on: March 08, 2011, 09:56:19 AM »
so for my site i need a definition of parkour, and sort of explination of what parkour is and how it can be trained safely.
i used americanparkours definition because, it is the most accurate, and i added some, and this is what i have.

Quote
What is parkour?

Definition: Parkour is the physical discipline of
training to overcome any obstacle within one's path
by adapting one's movements to the environment.

This is the definition of parkour that was givin
by the national community of American parkour, but
just because you define something does not mean it
   is limited to its definition.

   What does parkour require?
Parkour is a discipline that requires strength, Physical conditioning, Control
over the body, and balance. In order to properly train this discipline safely,
one must learn the full capabilities of their body. Without knowing your
limits, serious injury can, and will occur.

   What you should not do?
High falls, training on rooftops, reckless behavior is discouraged while
training parkour. High falls, training on rooftops, and dangerous stunts
without years of proper training are discouraged as well.

anything i can add to make this better, or anything i should take away from it? :)

It seems like it covers everything pretty well. I'd say its a great definition for your site! :)
Weight training alongside parkour always benefits, it never takes away.

I like it too, might want to put something in there about trespassing. That seems to be a hot spot as well
Never forget that even though you can jump, vault, flip, or hurdle an obstacle, you can still just walk around it.
