2011 National Jam Schedule
« on: January 30, 2011, 06:18:24 AM »
Jams are what it's all about. Meeting, training, playing, sharing ideas and having fun. Not to mention cookouts, nature days and of course big Leave no Trace efforts. These National Jams are where the community really connects, the internet BS goes away and we all have fun!

So far we've had a few great jams this year

Jan 8-9 San Antonio Texas
Jan 8-9 Gainesville Florida

Also on The National Jams Calendar:

Mar 19-20 - Boston, MA -  The Hubbable Jam 2011

May 28,29,30 - Washington, DC- (B)East Coast Jam and Film Festival

June 4 - Everywhere - International Parkour Day

June 17-19 - San Francisco - San Francisco Parkour National Jam 2011

The Colorado Parkour/APEX National Jam hasn't been announced yet, but is traditionally the first weekend of August, so chances are good for the 5th-8th  :)

I would love to go to the one in D.C. I grew up around that area, so it'd be nice to go back and look at it with different eyes. With nearly 4 months til then I should be able to get the cash for a flight and hotel.

I need to give my mommy intense detail in order for me to go; how I'm getting there, where I'm staying - all that jazz.

Depends on personal preference, I'd say...Google Maps is telling me that Shreveport - D.C. is a 19 hour car ride. Do you want to spend 19 hours straight in a car with fellow traceurs/traceuses? Or, you could make a multi-day trip out of it (a big group from Texas did that to get to American Rendezvous in Columbus, OH last spring), it's up to you. Obviously, flight is an option as well. The flight looks to be about an hour long, but the tickets are pretty pricey (AA says $250+ for one passenger).

As for hotels, I would check on Hotwire, Expedia, or Priceline for the best rates. Other than that, you could always try to mooch a sleepover off of someone who lives nearby, because nothing says 'Weekend Long Parkour Jam' like a basement crammed full with 10 dudes :P

Check the rates, make a decision for your best option as far as travel and hotel are concerned, and get back to us!

Also, look into youth hostels.  Often the cheapest way to go.  The best and most fun thing to do is make friends and crash on their floor or couch.  Last spring I had 8 people stay in my tiny apartment with me for the California Jam (which morphed into the SFPK National Jam this year.)

For all the people requesting National Jams in your area, here's what you do:
1) Build a local community.
2) Visit other communities, make friends, and attend their large jams.
3) Get advice from people.
4) Host your own National Jam.

You can do it.  APK is here to help.

You should, bro. Imma try to go, hopefully I'll see you there. Along with everyone else. I can't even attempt to imagine how much fun it would be. Everyone doing the same thing YOU love doing. Its gotta be the best feeling ever.

So the big Primal jam is the 28th or 4th?
