okay :D i KNOW HOW TO GET OVER FEAR i get over it quite easily, but another member in my team ( shes a girl , not that that changes anything, but there are mental differences.) cant seem to get over it, she can do a speed vault over a 4 foot tall block in the gym, but she cant seems to move anything into a real situation, she only feels "safe" at the gym, i wanna help her get over it, any advice ?

The only thing I can think of is start out small and slow. I'm learning in a gym with mats and soft springy floors it's a big scary difference to try on cement. Perhaps try at a park with nice soft grass and low obstacles

That's the only suggestion I could think of as well. When overcoming fear you just have to start slow and at your own pace.

Or she could just grow a pair.  :-Sarcasm

Nah, seriously, if you can do it perfectly in a gym, and you trust in the way you move, then there should be no problem at all transversing to concrete, and more natural objects, rather than foam, spring, etc.
Determination is the wake up call to the human will. Remember that.

The funny thing is, if she fell once, she'd realize why there's no reason to be afraid. I only mean for smaller obstacles, not like, falling off a building or anything.

Coming from experience in these matters, since I'm an athletic chick, the problem is usually not doing dumb stuff as a kid.  Basically, everything she's doing is brand new, which becomes more scary as one gets older.  When you are little you fall down, and you either get right back up, or cry and forget about it.  As an older person, you have a little more to think about and fear: consequences, pain, failure etc.

Turning your brain off can be hard for anyone sometimes, but it's worse for chicks.  We have been socialized to worry.

Try some obstacles she was more familiar with as a kid.  They are analogous to many parkour obstacles.

ps, the spell check says parkour is spelled wrong LOL

she could warm up by doing safety vaults outside and when she feels confident then she can move on to a speed vault

Being as strong as possible gives you confidence in being able to bail without getting hurt too.

at 0:50 in this song i have no fear
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_spVxhWEQWc
the way the screaming works in harmony with the singing makes the fear in my head go away, i don't know why, but it does.
For those 15 seconds or less, i'm not afraid to fall.
I like Tricking and Free Running, i don't think i actually do parkour, because i do it for fun and self expression, which would change the term to free running.

See, i stayed away from gyms in the beginning of my training and just went outside to learn. It got me used to the way concrete feels and how it feels when you fall.
