Right now I'm on a low fat high protein diet. But I am getting Robb Wolf's book on the Paleo diet, I'll read it, and hopefully switch to that.

My diet now, with little exercise has dropped my 5lbs in about three-four weeks, and it's stayed down, not huge jumps.

You say that, but you're not very specific on what you're actually eating. "Well-balanced" diet is incredibly vague and can likely be wrong in your case.

my diet is based off of what is needed for my weight and weight goals. My mom just so happens to be a dietitian so its quite simple for me to follow the correct diet.

You're still not saying what it is you're specifically eating that makes your diet well-balanced.

Right now a lot of protein. When I'll be 'cutting' I'll be dropping a lot of carbs.

You're still not saying what it is you're specifically eating that makes your diet well-balanced.

Well i get 4-5 servings of vegetables, 3-5 fruits a few servings of grains.  a few servings of meats/beans/poultry.  a few servings of dairy milk/yogurt. very few oils, although i do enjoy peanut butter and jelly.  almost no sugar's or sweets. majority of sugar i get is from fruit.  I make my own bread so its whole grains and such.  But after thanksgiving im switching to a low carb diet to try it out cause i've always been curious.
