Parkour Classes at the Y!
« on: September 04, 2010, 06:31:20 PM »
Hey guys!  The local YMCA is starting a Parkour class, and it looks like it's going to be very very successful :)

The class times very from semester to semester, so you'd want to call the YMCA at (203)-445-9633 for some extra info, and also how to sign up.  If you're under 18 be sure to bring a parent so they can sign the waivers and stuff lol.

The classes are taught by a tag team of three people (Me, my buddy Zach, and my other buddy Josh).  We're all capable of teaching and I think honestly we do a pretty good job of it ;D.

Alright, just wanted to throw that out there.

EDIT:  The classes are incredibly successful atm.  We had 19 people at the last class and we might have to make another class.  Everyone is progressing well and we haven't had any terrible incidents hahah.

Classes at the Y are expensive! 135 bucks! I'll still do it, I'm just saying.

Yeah I know bro >.>  Sadly we have no control over that since it's just another program at the Y, and the prices and costs are determined by the authorities there...We have nothing to do with that.  Sorry :P  However, students in the Parkour class do get free open gyms every Friday night from 8-9 as opposed to paying $10 if you're not in the class :)

Hope to see you there regardless though.

I really hate to be that guy, but...

Promotional posting for other organizations besides apk is not allowed.

You can write an article for the front page about it though!
Weight training alongside parkour always benefits, it never takes away.

Copied from Zach K.

Good news guys. The Parkour Course is moving forward. We need workers. This Sunday we're going to be excavating the site at the Trumbull YMCA Outdoors Center. We're going to be meeting early in the morning in the parking lot (time to be announced soon). We're going to be moving rocks, cutting trees, raking and other sorts of clearing activities. As of right now it's bring your own refreshments, we'll be working all day. If you can help, post here. I'll let you know if we can use you, we're not going to need everybody who responds right away, but we will eventually. Right now the project is in its baby steps, we're clearing the land this Sunday, and within the next 2 weeks laying down wood chips and bordering the area. The course is our goal over the next few months. My Dad & I will be providing all the tools needed to complete this task, I will post if we need anything else. I may be adding more and I'll put that in a separate post, but for now the info you need to know is:
Sunday, June 26th
Trumbull Outdoors Center
Meeting @ Parking Lot
Early meet up time (time to be announced)
Clearing the area that day
As of right now it's bring your own refreshments

Hope to hear from some of you guys.

So is this still going on? I was thinking about doing parkour a while back so I joined a gym and have really improved my strength and I'd like to seriously do this now.
